AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Authorities say three people were killed and 14 others were wounded after a shooting at a bar in Austin, Texas.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said at a press conference early Sunday that police received a call for reports of a “male shooting” at Buford’s, a popular beer garden in the city’s entertainment district.

When police arrived at the scene, they confronted a man with a gun and then “returned fire, killing the suspect,” Davis said.

EMS Chief Robert Luckritz said three people were found dead at the scene and 14 people were injured and transported to hospitals. Of those injured, three were in critical condition.

“We received a call at 1:39 a.m. and within 57 seconds, the first paramedics and officers were on scene actively treating the patients,” Luckritz said.

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson praised the rapid response by police and rescuers.

“They definitely saved lives,” Watson said.

First Responders hanging around downtown, popular attractions during the weekend isn’t unusual actually. They woul have been in the area just in case.

Being that close to the scene, would you have needed to receive a call? Less than a minute for call > dispatch > downed shooter > treating injured seems pretty quick. Maybe its just the way I'm reading it though.

Depends on how they are timing it I guess? I can’t really speculate without knowing the area just that the response time isn’t necessarily weird.

I mean it is right in the heart of Austin

"Calls" can originate from officers on the scene. Less dialing into 911 and more announcing/coordinating it over the radio all patrol officers share. Likewise if you're in proximity and not dealing with something super important already, you'd be expected to be making your way to the scene without needing a specific dispatch.

Everyone who supports gun free zones actually just opposes all gun rights, but is settling for restricting them as much as they can get away with to make it inconvenient or criminal to carry.

While I’m generally with you on gun free zones being stupid, I think it makes a lot of sense to ban the combination of firearms and alcohol, especially if there’s niggers around. If you’ve read the exploits of a certain retarded pirate lolcow, you’ll get what I’m talking about.

I've seen soo many texans who are just fat stupid white trash pussies over the years who run their mouths constantly and act like they're bad asses on the internet when the reality is they're just retarded losers who only have balls because they have a gun on them. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's what happened here, some little white trash nobody running their mouth, getting embarrassed by the actual adults and coming back with a gun because he's a little spineless bitch.

Edit: After looking into it more according to the latest article the FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism so we may be looking at a islamist subhuman. The fact that they still haven't even released their race further suggests they aren't white as well.
