Anyone can book a cruise. Royal Caribbean has always been pretty hands off with streamers and just allows them to come and film their ships. 99% are cruise streamers providing free advertising and educating their consumers. I am sure Royal had no idea what this was beforehand. If I was on that ship I would be livid. You can't even escape the mother fuckers. Today was the first port stop in Roatan Honduras, a tiny Island. My guess is that the worst of them gets disembarked tomorrow in Mexico.

Like @Ghostse said, the main draw is the itinerary, although some people just like the ships themselves. I like cruises because it lets me see a lot of places in a region without the decision fatigue of where to stay, eat, travel logistics, etc. I unpack once and the “hotel”, restaurant, and other amenities go from place to place, instead of the other way around. The port times can be a downside for sure, especially for people who are used to staying in a destination for longer, since you’re only in port for about 8 hours. My fiancé can’t take off work for weeks/months to do really immersive travel anyways, though, so I figure it’s similar to flying to a region and taking day trips by land to see everything, just more convenient since we don’t have to pack and unpack, etc. Tip: if you want to avoid niggers, avoid the short 3-5 night Caribbean itineraries on mainstream resort lines (Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC). Those have the cheapest inside staterooms and are the ones people most often coordinate EBT booze cruises on. Look for 5-7 nights on a “premium” line (Celebrity, Princess, Holland America, Virgin)
Keep an eye on this. If this is the itinerary I think it is (Galveston->Western Caribbean->Galveston) there’s a rule that allows US travelers to cruise internationally without a passport if you bring an alternative form of ID, for example, a birth certificate. That assumes, though, that you don’t run into any issues during the trip and make it home via the cruise ship. If you get left in a foreign country, you cannot legally re-enter the US without a passport. You have to find and arrange travel to a consulate- assuming the consulate is equipped, the one in Roatan might not be- or an embassy. Then you have to prove your identity, assuming you have enough forms of ID on you and that the records match, and then wait for an emergency passport which can take days, all while paying out of pocket and navigating where to sleep and eat in a foreign place because the Port Authority will probably only take you as far as pointing to the consulate. Have any of these literally who’s streamed from outside of the US before indicating that they might have a passport? About 50% of passengers pick the birth certificate option and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these 0% score on the breakfast question champions also opted for that route. I wonder if any of them have an international SIM or thought to get one because I really want to watch this shitshow of a bunch of coddled streamers stranded in a level 2 travel advisory country (the island of Roatan is good, Honduras mainland where the embassy is, not so much)
