Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I don’t understand how anyone can still try to defend Biden. At this point they have to be in denial that they voted for him, and now this tragedy is unfolding.

If by "wedgie" you mean have a rusty chainsaw run up their ass, I'm with you.
 
There was a possibility however slight, they could have swept this under the rug if they got out without taking fire. Would have left a couple 1000 to die, but they are not on camera so no biggie. However low the chance they were arrogant enough to try.

That rug has been burned to ash.
