Gaming is also full of vociferous antagonistic retards from all sides of the political spectrum and the first time Phil is dogpiled for his dumbass opinions he’ll lose his shit, call someone a faggot and whatever contractor deal he has with a publication will be incinerated. Phil doesn’t have the hustle to be an independent journalist to say nothing of the personality and clout needed to build a list of reliable contacts. It’s again a question of charisma at that point; a person can be an untalented idiot and still be a pundit but to do so one needs to know at least what to say and how to say it and it’s far too easy to flummox him for Phil to make it as a talking head.

He has nothing interesting to say about gaming much less any other subject and yet he thinks people come to watch him hold court. He wants to be some storied veteran of the industry but he’s just… not. Nothing he’s done in the past decade comes even close. Competent people who really want to make it and have nothing to lose will immerse themselves in the culture 24/7. And he doesn’t even play games when he’s not on camera! These industry insiders and successful you tubers have ten years of varied, bleeding edge experience. What exactly is his game plan?

Max is the exact person Phil pretends to be in every fighting game stream he does. He's oh so knowledgeable about everything street fighter, he used to compete in tekken (look at my strip mall trophy doods, please tip!) but he simply fucking sucks. Max isn't a pro, but he truly enjoys the games he plays while Phil shits on every fg that's not super turbo.

I think the answer can be found in the fact that we're talking about the same guy who legit thought, back in his 9-5 days, that he knew better than other people at his work. The idea didn't come out of thin air one day when he was rambling on camera, he actually felt that over-blown sense of worth the last time he held a regular job. I think him embracing a YT career came out of his need to run away from the pain of being confronted by the truth of things in that regard. While else would he lie about how he lost all those jobs and act like it was just no good reason each time? It still hurts him too much to admit how shitty he was as an employee, because his ego had him convinced even back then that he could've run those businesses.

There's a reason Philroach looks and sounds exactly the same every time someone hits on the truth, and him running away from it has ultimately resulted in no dissolution of his delusions of grandeur even being possible. He doesn't even think about the intricacies of actually being a voice in the gaming industry, because he didn't think about them with any of his 9-5s either.

Yeah I knew he talked about them "getting easy money from lonely guys" without a hint of irony which is hilarious given who he is.
 
Regarding the games journo topic, he would be a perfect games journo - hates gaming, doesn't know the history or even the basic genres or themes in gaming, compares every game that didn't let him win at least one time to Dark Souls. The only thing missing is that he isn't a failed student of journalism or English.
 
Maybe this is best in the Medfag thread but what are the odds either Phil or Kat have gotten their Covid shots yet I'm gonna go with neither have.

That's funny, I've always felt one of Max's biggest draws is that he isn't all that good. Guy just has fun, but for real, not like Phil claims to play for fun. Phil can say he plays for fun all he wants but the second he starts getting wrecked he's outta there. Max even sometimes makes a rank climb, which is really entertaining, since it brings a lot of tension because you know, he's good, but not super good.

Max is like Krillin. He's very impressive when compared to normal people, but pretty low on the power scale overall. Still, he's so likeable you're gonna love him anyway. In this analogy, Phil would be Assasin Tao. Some dude who could be a threat under specific circumstances, but so far behind he's not even a joke any more... But he still wants recognition.

Gameplay wise they are also complete foils of one another. They are both 2D fighter guys, but Max excels at creative offense while Phil is a flowchart lamer who would much rather you come to him and figure out his pattern bullshit. This makes Max a natural entertainer and Phil a boring, sweaty tryhard. Couple that with Phil's strong preference for dunking on the same reduced group of people, and you have a recipe for a snorefest.

No big deal in any case, I don't think Phil's gonna do much fighting game content in the future. Even when there's new stuff, he finds ways to duck them. Max is playing Baiken in Samsho right now, a legit mostly dead game. Hell, people are still playing DoA and Soulcalibur. Phil bringing out the Tekken trophy only further highlights how much of a poser he is. Dude hates games in general and fighting games in particular. Unless it's bootleg super turbo vs scrubs.

Speed runners need to go on stream every day ready for a marathon and the certain chance of failure by seconds or fractions of a second, and this is after the pressure and practice of getting a game exactly right.

off the top of my head that’s three basic categories of streamer that do more work in a day than DSP does in a month.

Two of them already made fun of him, specifically Nyanners from VShojo and Pippa Pipkin from Phase Connect. The media mentions thread has both videos and he blocked the former like the bitch he is. The moment he even does a rant would be the day he would be swarmed by autists all over the world, and some of those autists have checkmarks and followings of their own.

lmao based and pippilled. I remember Calli and Gura captured a piglin in Minecraft and named it Phil but that might have just been coincidence. Either way it made me laugh.
