I know some people think SnowKarl is funny, and maybe he is sometimes... but does he have anything else going on in his life? Every time I open a Phil stream I see this fucking guy there.
Do some of these people just never have work, school, anything to do except watch streamers all the livelong day?
I'm pretty hypocritical when it comes to SnowKarl because I do think he (or rather the rants he easily provokes) is funny and has led to some pretty entertaining moments, but all his little contributions do really add up. And, like you said, he does seem to be there a lot.
My tinfoil hat theory is SnowKarl is a loyal DSP fan in the making. He's absolutely taking the piss out of Phil right now, but a lot of Phil's big paypigs started out as "ironic" watchers or whatever who claimed to just laugh at Phil sucking at a game and going on rants. But, then they started to interact with Phil, giving him little pokes and nudges to get more rants or whatever. And then, they started donating even outside of getting a reaction, just a few bucks here and there, surely it doesn't make a difference. And they are getting amusement out of Phil, so it makes sense. They might even start defending Phil, they don't want to lose their source of entertainment. Now people are in chat trying to get them banned, then all that time spent trolling would be for nothing, but, wait, if they were a mod, they wouldn't have to worry about that...
It might not go down exactly like that, and I admit SnowKarl has been doing the troll thing for a pretty long time, arguably longer than some of the old regulars who had trollish tendencies but ended up becoming paypigs. I think part of the reason people warn against troll tipping, outside of it still supporting Phil, is the fact that it can become a slippery slope and cause you to become more invested in Phil. I hope I end up being wrong about SnowKarl, and at the very least, I don't think he'll become a fan anytime soon, certainly not while OIC is around.
