I actually like that aspect of this thread, it brings well needed perspective and sanity to whatever fucked up shit that is posted. Also, the whole trans issue is revolved around TERFs vs trannies, so the occasional feminist sperging and analysis is inevitable.

I used to be where you were at a few years ago, so I think maybe what you might want to read isn't Sideshows but actually the SRS and GRS Horrors thread. There is an insane amount of medical malpractice going on in the "trans health" sphere from puberty blockers to the lasting impacts of taking HRT to straight up butchery by plastic surgeons (here's an article written by a true and honest trans woman about how shitty the surgery care is). People really get lied to and that includes your friends. Actually there's no "violence" any of us internet board twansphobes can do that will outstrip the depths of physical injury these people will inflict upon themselves. We get accused of "think of the children-ing" but it is a problem that these health lasting health consequences are being aggressively pushed onto young children like Jazz Jennings (who has his own thread) under the banner of "protect trans kids." It actually doesn't matter whether we are "personal friends" with trans people or not, no """"lived identity"""""" trumps the truth of looking at medical science—or just a neovagina—directly. Further, none of these """"treatments"""" actually reduce the rate of suicide which is why traditionally, gender dysphoria has been treated primarily with therapy and physical transition was a last resort in the same way that doctors don't just agree to hack off the limbs of people with severe anorexia or body integrity dysphoria. (And on the topic of eating disorders: wanting to hack off one's breasts is actually very common among female anorexics; to achieve the "passing" body type that is often cited on people like Blair White or Teddy Quinlivan, you have to be severely anorexic/underweight for a man; the aforementioned Jazz Jennings recently admitting to having binge eating disorder which is a disease that is heavily correlated with child abuse.)

Many of the people who were initially hit with the cancellation wave like Jesse Singal actually wrote very balanced and reasonable and empathetic takes on these issues. Nonetheless, there is still currently a whisper campaign to accuse Jesse Singal of harassment behind closed doors of trans women because they couldn't find any other way to attack his actual reporting. To powerlevel, I can anecdotally confirm this happens because well-meaning friends of mine who are in the same professional circle as he is have aggressively told me that "he's obsessed with and stalks trans women" based on the hearsay of trans women they personally know as well. (Side note, Jesse Singal derangement syndrome could be its own thread at this point.) You can call someone their preferred pronouns as much as you want and respect their identity and literally just be investigating something that effects their health and well being, but ultimately, it doesn't matter.

I agree with your overall point, but not the specifics. "Trans" as they use it isn't the same as the prefix "trans", but an abbreviation of the word transsexual/transgender. In that sense it is more grammatically accurate (though factually inaccurate) to call a TiM a "trans[gender] woman" than a "trans[gender]woman".

Of course, if they're going to do something as linguistically annoying as abbreviating a term into its own prefix then we should be allowed to use that abbreviation as a prefix otherwise that's an arbitrary place to draw the line. Really though, most people really shouldn't care one way or another, trannies throwing a fit over whether people can use a compound word is purely a power play and I support mini acts of rebellion like removing the space.

Also, in my opinion a handyman can be a woman, but a dandy man really can't. "Handyman" is a compound word and therefore the "man" part isn't necessarily literal in the way that it is for "dandy man".

I have a theory that a big part of modern day gender confusion has to do with the way that sex and maturity to form western "gender" categories. Basically, becoming a man/woman wasn't just something that automatically happened when you reached a certain age, it was something that had some ritual or accomplishment tied to it, whether that was menarche, reading the Torah, or killing a lion. So we have these people who become men/women when they turn 18, but they don't feel any different than they did a few days ago. Hell, nowadays they probably didn't even have a big birthday bash, they just hung out with some friends and then had a fancy dinner with their family.

And the things that we call "manly" or "womanly" aren't necessarily that gendered. Yeah, we do typically consider chopping wood to be a manly thing, but if no man is around to do that then of course we expect the woman to do that, it's not that big a deal. We do typically consider taking care of children a womanly thing, but if no woman is around to do it then of course we expect the man to do that, it's not that big a deal. And sometimes this extends to really basic stuff like keeping your home in order which can be either manly or womanly. But really these things are adult more than manly or womanly. And when some males reach adulthood they don't want to do the manly stuff because they haven't really become adults in their mind, but they know that they are adults so they figure that they must not be men but women. Same thing happens for some females who reach adulthood and don't want to do the womanly stuff.

I was at a concert last week and a TiF was in line behind me for the bathroom and frankly it didn't even occur to me to be uncomfortable with her in the bathroom, not even annoyed that a woman was using the men's room since the line for the women's room was longer. There was piss all over the toilet seat in the stall that I used and then she went into directly after me, it was there before I went in, but I have to wonder if she thinks that was me hatecriming her?

Anyway, the reason for that TMI was just so I could mention that I've clocked 2 TiFs in the wild in the couple months since things started opening up and I had never clocked one in the wild before. I have to wonder, am I just better at troonspotting or have the number of TiFs also increased?

You’re right that a lot of troons fear adulthood and adult responsibilities. They’re always grifting for stuff instead of getting a job. MTFs are mad they missed out on middle school slumber parties, not being a hot coed. FTMs don’t want chest hair or receding hairlines, because they don’t want to be men, they want to be not adult women.

I just have a feeling that his own safety was not his top concern, he was just hoping for an opportunity to pressure a person into fucking him and was willing to risk being physically attacked by a man in order to do so. You know, just like women do.

At least he's detransing, but it doesn't look like he's solved the core mental problems that caused him to troon out in the first place. It's good that he's not about to follow a path where that kind of sickness is encouraged, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him swing to the opposite side of the spectrum. The fact that his only posts that seem to be getting much positive engagement are on detrans makes me think that he'll make that a core part of his identity in the coming months, at least that won't involve mutilating his body.

I hate the whitewashing of every old culture to make it seem like in the modern day we're somehow a special kind of backwards. Most pro-homo cultures always had some kind of catch, like "you could only buttfuck the lower class" or "it was still nasty if women did it" or "this third gender was forced upon effiminate gay men." I recently saw an article about some burial sight in Finland from 1000 years ago where the body was in female clothing but very likely had Klinefelter's. The "researchers" said this meant the ancient Finns were probably pro-enby, as though the dude likely had a say in the matter.
