Serious question, when was the last time Phil streamed or uploaded a video where he didn't ask for money? I mean directly asking, not complaining about views, ads, or whatever. I thought it might be around 2017, but he had his Patreon going so it must be earlier than that. I don't have time to keep looking it up, but I'm just curious. There has to be a day where it all started, right?
I mean if you count him begging people to click ads then at the very least it goes all the way back to his face reveal video.

Actually thinking about that makes me again question if he was even really popular, because a popular youtuber probably wouldn't have had to ask people to click the ads...

Phil was a legit top Youtuber for a while early in the 10s. Undeserved and based on spamming videos, but he made it. He's just always been a shameful beggar spoiled by Mommy.

Dave lived by the algorithm but wouldn't change when the algorithm changed.
Didn't he screw himself in the YouTube algorithm by deleting over a million views worth of content when he was with Machinima. Basically because he didn't let them do their jobs.

Although, I think a lot of people even back then knew he was never going to change. Change requires effort and Phil is all about doing the least amount possible to get by.

Well Phil has never really paid attention to what a truly successful person would or would not do, or else he wouldn't be where he is now. Shit, look at his begging, despite the fact that he could live comfortably even without raking in tips every day. He never sees the forest for the trees and adjusts accordingly.

And him gaming the algorithm was just more of the usual lazy shit that he does, and expects to work forever. Just like learning patterns in Super Turbo, he figures out one trick and rides it until it stops working. Wouldn't be so bad by itself if he didn't also keep getting not only surprised but pissed when it ceases to be effective. He never learns.

At that point Youtube was a pond. But now Youtube is a ocean and he is a drop of gout in that ocean. that and he changed way too late because he was lazy

This. When Phil was at his highest popularity there were far fewer people doing what he was doing, and at the time they were all doing it the same way he was. Now it’s over a decade later and not only has he not evolved unless forced to, a lot of the people streaming games now are doing it because they actually enjoy it and want to get better at it. Phil is not competitive and enjoys nothing except his shitty mobile game and eating, and he’s too lazy and prideful even to monetize those things, even though he could because there are channels which feature only those kinds of content as well.

Phil made Fuck You Money for a handful of years and in that time convinced himself that doing exactly what he was doing at the time, the exact same way, for the next forty fucking years would produce precisely the same returns, and if you don’t think that theory holds water then I invite you to watch any of his playthroughs of FromSoft games, wherein you will hear him say approximately 45,982 times:

“what the fuck dood, I did the exact same thing I did last time and now something different happened”

This is why I completely believe that Phil was valedictorian at his School for Basketball-American Arts. Shitty high schools do not foster imagination and critical thinking; instead they require rote memorization and regurgitation of facts, something animals can manage if presented with the appropriate reward and punishment. If Young Phil was made to sit an hour and a half a day and study by, say, an overbearing parent, he would have no trouble scoring highly on testing. “When presented with Inquiry A, provide Response B”. That’s what it takes, and being able to do that in no way makes him an intelligent individual.

It is going to be 97 degrees in Renton today and 100 degrees tomorrow. Phil is going have all 3 of his AC machines going at the same time in a feeble attempt to cool his entire house down lol.
I sadly do expect some pity buck tips today. Fuck Phil.

Wow his tweets from last night/this morning were amazing-

"I'm doing great guys, the trolls are so jealous of my success and positivity... waaaah I need more money I'm so stressed out!!"

LARPing as an experienced gamer. Phil would hate MMOs, at least the ones that don’t come from Korea; you can’t pay to win and you need to interact and cooperate with other human beings. He also probably things that stuff with elves and orcs in it is for limp-twisted nerds whereas things like wrasslin’ and Final Fantasy IV (with its plot that’s just Star Wars, no literally, it’s actually only just Star Wars) are for real mature tough adults who’ve seen everything life could ever throw at them.
Phil doesn't bring it up as frequently anymore, but back in the day he had this narrative he would constantly come back to that there was "an entire era of gaming" he "missed out" on because he was playing "nothing but competitive Street Fighter at the time." The timeframe for this era? Early 2000s through around 2007. When were Everquest, Final Fantasy 11, City of Heroes and World of Warcraft new, hot popular games? Oh right. The exact same timeframe. Whoops.

I hope YouTube notes his over the top begging and personal fundraisers. They don't have a person I can contact and talk to, so I'm screaming at a wall.
It would be funnier if he lost his twitter.

Removing his communication with the whales would be the best next step.

when did he play wow?
does he mean this as "playing"?
I absolutely, positively, without doubt, refuse to believe this imbecile played Final Fantasy 11. Setting up an account, even on the PS2 required a Ph.D. or being able to follow a 50-page guide. During the current influx of WoW refugees, people are even complaining about how hard it is to set up an FF14 account; so little has changed.

And then there's the game itself. Which in its heyday required constant grouping and socialization and strict adherence to vague rules or you'd be ostracized.

The only question is which will produce more moisture? The tears or the sweat?

I wouldn't take so much issue with this tendency of his if he would at least keep reasonable expectations. I've known plenty of people who rested on their laurels, and paid prices for it, but they didn't bitch. They knew that they did it to themselves.

I guess that's the difference, the fact that Phil is unfathomably spoiled and entitled.

Even when the silent majority rises up he doesn't care...and only answered a question about the axebawks because he still hopes he will get a free game or shoutout from Microsoft.

Well, to give him the benefit of the doubt, he may passed out finally. Big ups alcohol poisoning!
(and some of the tweets were quite recent)

That has always amused me about him, his pea-sized brain can't comprehend that characters will behave differently at each encounter for reasons of challenge, longevity by way of multiple playthroughs etc.

If a baddy can't be facerolled with a two-handed greatsword or cheesed with lightning spears then it's straight to "duh, Fromsoftware, duhhh!". It's this unwillingness to adapt that means that whenever he has to face-off against a Gundyr or a Genichiro or a Guardian Ape he brings out his tired and tested excuse book, "roll, ROLL I was trying to roll!!11!!!1", "WoWdood, he never did that move before", and all the rest. It's the same attitude of slothness, unadaptability, bad-attitude and just plain idleness that has seen his competition leave him behind in the dust.
