Yes. The common nickname is "citogenesis". A claim is inserted into a wikipedia page, either maliciously or because of something a "trusted" publication said about the subject. That claim is then reported as "fact" by other "trusted" publications, which are they used as citations for the "fact" in the wikipedia page in turn. The "fact" is now deemed "truth" and can't be removed because of the multiple citations supporting its inclusion.
