When I was a young teenager on the Russian-speaking internet, it was not uncommon for teens and sometimes kids to participate in online communities. But, the consensus was that if they participate in discussions, they are to be treated like everybody else: criticised, teased, and sometimes insulted. I am glad it was that way because it helped to thicken my skin early in life.
The internet has changed a lot since that time, however.
