San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus dog-piled with death threats by QAnon conspiracy theorists

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus has been dog-piled with death threats by QAnon conspiracy theorists over a satirical song about teaching kids tolerance.

The group shared a new song, titled “A Message from the Gay Community”, on Wednesday (7 July), and it wasn’t long before conservatives got their hands on the tongue-in-cheek track.

In the song, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus sing: “You think that we’ll corrupt your kids if our agenda goes unchecked… Funny, just this once, you’re correct.”

Over the course of the four-and-a-half-minute song, the gay men hilariously joke about making children “tolerant and fair”, adding that they’re going to do it “bit by bit, quietly and subtly”.

The far-right quickly latched onto the song, and individual members have faced 48 hours of relentless abuse, according to the group’s executive director Chris Verdugo.

Commenter told Gay Men’s Chorus they were going to put ‘lead in your head’

“We have received emails, phone messages, threats across all of our social media platforms – not just about the chorus, but the staff, as well as the soloists who were featured in the song,” he told SFist.

“The [YouTube] comment that continues to stick out in my head is the one that said ‘We’re going to put lead in your head.'”

Verdugo went on to explain that one Twitter user even took a screenshot of the members singing in the video and created a spreadsheet in an effort to identify them.

Some members of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus even had the far-right contact their workplaces claiming they were “paedophiles”.

“Singers on their social media have been getting threats. It’s been a harrowing 36 hours,” Verdugo said.

One Twitter user gained widespread traction on social media when they tweeted claiming that many members of the chorus are registered sex offenders.

SFist checked the Megan’s Law database and discovered that the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus members accused of being registered sex offenders were nothing of the sort.

In fact, the Twitter user had actually found registered sex offenders with similar names to the members of the chorus, but they were living miles away from San Francisco.

Verdugo revealed that they were forced to close their San Francisco office as the backlash intensified. All staff were sent home in a bid to protect their safety.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus issued a statement as backlash intensified

The situation spiralled so quickly out of control that the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus issued a statement on Thursday (8 July).

“The far-right conservative media found our ‘Message…’ video and have taken it as their cause,” the Gay Men’s Chorus’ statement said.

“This has all happened in the last 24 hours and it continues to pick up steam.

“They have taken the lyrics out of context to support a narrative that suits their intolerant and hateful needs. It is obvious the tongue-in-cheek humour is lost on many.

“As a result, we have seen the user comments on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram become increasingly alarming. Emails to individuals and the chorus office are vitriolic – including threats of harm.”

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus went on to say that the response to its video “proves that our message is critically important in today’s world”.

Joking about being a pedo is a fucking stupid idea. Period.

However, I doubt these guys were joking. They should be dealt with in a government complying way.

Leftists always think that they're entitled to raise other people's children.

They never want children of their own--because that requires actual work and then they'd have less disposable income to squander on Funko Pops and avocado toast--but they'll gladly push their insane political ideology on your children.

Who'd thought that people would get pissed off about a gay choir singing about how they're going to groom and rape children in order to 'convert' them'?

San Francisco is a hugbox for degenerate faggots. Once they step out of it reality sets in, usually in the form of a 7.62 caliber (or 9mm, whichever the opposition prefers), or the highest roof.

Can confirm. Was in San Fran for an extended period of time and it's a nexus for homos of all types. The only thing that might rival that demographic is the homeless.

"In fact, the Twitter user had actually found registered sex offenders with similar names to the members of the chorus, but they were living miles away from San Francisco"

This is the best line. Its only a coincidence that at least 5 members of the chorus have the same names as registered sex offenders, and they live miles away. Nobody ever commutes more than a mile outside of where they live.

The fact that they don't specify the order of magnitude of miles tells me it is likely less than 10 miles from San Francisco.

Most of California involves travelling via highways. The "miles" excuse doesn't work when there are people who will travel for an hour or more to get to their workplace every day.

Then they sure didn't look very hard, seeing as multiple other people found those records just fine. Apparently they forgot said records include pictures of said sex offenders that match the pictures of said choir members

For some reason, reading that reminded me of this

Polygamy is far too tied to religious weirdos, the lefties will not associate with the FLDS and such groups. I don’t think you’ll even see it get fought for in the same way.

Incest? Hard to say, but I could see it. I don’t think the natural stigma of it and the genetic defects it produces is going anywhere. At best it’ll be accepted in the same way troons are.
I say that you have that backwards: incest is too tied to the 'racist' South and Appalacians (a white minority). People can (and o) defend being BGLT+ by saying 'at least I do not commit incest!' However, wi the proliferation of 'hot dads' and 'moms I wanna bang', that desire and tha taboo are going to clash.
Meanwhile, other than some derisions and jokes regarding Mormons, I do not see opposition to polygamy i non-conservative circles. I have seen a bit of support in Tumblr and with furries, bu that is technically cheating.

You literally put it on the Intetnet. Ben Shapiro didn't dress up as a club kid and take 10 cocks up the ass just to get his hands on this.

Qanon benefits Democrats more than Republicans, it keeps retards sitting in their asses thinking Trump or some glowies will finally take down Hillary and the pedos in DC.
Qanon is allowed to flourish for this very reason. The conspiracy theory narratives the establishment doesn't control are the ones that never get reported on the news.

These idiots think it's "tongue-in-cheek humor," but there are some things that you never, never joke about.

Eh, i'm in favor of saying you're allowed to joke about things, but if you over step, you over step and people are allowed to react badly.

Obviously death threats are too much for a joke, or really most anything, but people are totally allowed to point out this is them jokingly advocating for child grooming, which is really distasteful.

Republicans will defend the free speech of arrested french rappers calling for a white genocide but they will seethe at a bunch of faggots online who are, to be quite honest, doing this due to the backlash theyve gotten in recent time. But I won't defend this choir because they're ugly fucks.

I think there's a difference between calling these dudes assholes and calling their jobs to get fired or making death threats. Unfortunately people chose to do the latter.

A government arresting someone for rap lyrics isn't really the same as conservacucks seething on Twitter about bad satire.
Yeah, but cancel culture sucks. I don't think it's right to be calling these dudes workplaces and trying to get them fired, given that most of them probably just sang the music they were given.

Given the Choir has visited elementary schools for "outreach", I think it is reasonable to demand from their administration a formal statement whether there are registered sex offenders in the Choir, and who they are. I'm not seeing such a statement.

Claiming something to be "tongue-in-cheek humor" has never been extenuating in the court of social justice. All incidents of blackface, all Halloween costumes, have been "tongue-in-cheek humor taken out of context" -- the "context" being people having silly fun. As this has never stopped SJWs demanding people to be fired over them, so I don't see why people should let the Choir pass.

I, for one, am pleased to see that these faggots are being given a taste of their own medicine.

If people can have their lives ruined over saying “Sex and Gender aren’t the same thing”, then it’s only fair for them to be *at the very least* subjected to these same rules when they “joke” about converting children.

(((They))) don’t like their own rules being used against them. And it’s glorious.

They have no one to blame but themselves for people taking their "joking" seriously. You either have to be delusional or malicious to joke about pedophilia then pretend to be shocked when people are upset.

On that note, pointing out the whole 'silence is violence' rhetoric and that by their own standards they are damning themselves by implied admission its true is quite appropriate for this situation

After all, if there aren't multiple child sex offenders in their ranks that they are aware of why is it so hard to simply state that simple fact? Their silence speaks for itself

"antipedophilia isn't a thing sweaty uwu"

It sounds like "Qanon" is just becoming a meme for dumb people to use as a pseudonym for "anything the don't like".

Also, it isn't a "group" anymore than something like "Anonymous" is - only a paranoid conspiracy theorist would purposely portray it as some "group with rank and file membership).

My recollection is that the original "Qanon" was someone posting on social media under the username "Q" claiming to be an FBI agent with secret information that the Trump administration was having a bunch of politicians (all Democrats or Trump opponents) rounded up for sex crimes, and that some images of politicians in baggy clothing proved they were wearing police ankle-monitors.

None of this has anything specifically to do with the gay men's choir (not to mention one of their videos was deleted after it was revealed that several members of the choir were registered sex offenders), so if anything this just a natural grassroots outrage which is totally understandable,

It's now thinking anything that isn't from the controlled and allowable establishment narrative.

I find it fascinating because you only ever hear or come across people mocking insane Qanon conspiracy theories. Do people, or anything but a few nutbags think them? Or is it entertainment where lefties make up crazy shit and say it's what Trump's dumb supporters believe. "They believe there are tunnels with children having their brains milked."

Now it's been established as a crazy load of the dumbest shit ever people would believe. They can label anything they want Qanon and people will simply assume it's crazy and bullshit. People will see the headline. Look no further. Anyone related to Qanon is a barely functional retard. Nothing they say or think can have merit. It stops people from being curious. For those that do question some narrative allowed positions. It makes them not speak up.
