  • UCLA experts surveyed approximately 1,700 US adults about their diet and gender sensations.
  • The more men follow traditional gender roles, the more beef / chicken they eat
  • According to researchers, the same tendency is not seen among women
  • Findings may help encourage men to switch to a sustainable meat-free diet

Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles surveyed more than 1,700 US adults to see if the stereotype that “real men eat meat” really works. They found that, unlike women, men tended to eat beef (left) and chicken (right) so much that they felt they had to follow the traditional notion of masculinity.

The study was conducted by psychologists Daniel Rosenfeld and Janet Tomiyama at the University of California, Los Angeles.

“Our findings suggest that shifting men’s perception of the ideal gender role from traditional masculine can reduce beef and chicken consumption,” Rosenfeld said. Mr. says.

“This is especially promising for beef, given that beef production poses a much greater environmental threat than other forms of meat production.”

In their study, the duo targeted 1,706 US adults aged 18-88 years, both in terms of meat consumption and openness to becoming vegan or vegetarian, as well as gender sensations and traditional gender roles. We investigated the suitability for.

“First, men reported eating all kinds of meat more often, including beef, pork, fish and chicken, compared to women. The effect size of these differences diminishes in this order.” The researcher explained.

The answer is also that among men, a greater fit to traditional gender stereotypes, both more frequent consumption of the two types of meat (beef and chicken) and a lower level of openness to vegetarianism. Showed to be related to.

No similar effect was observed on meat consumption for fish or pork.

However, the same tendency was not seen among women. This suggests that men may eat more meat to test and carry out their sense of traditional masculine identity.

According to the answers, among men, the more compatible with traditional gender stereotypes, the more frequently they consume two types of meat, beef (pictured) and chicken, and their openness to vegetarianism. Was shown to be associated with both low.

“A deeper understanding of the role of gender may help reduce public meat consumption to improve human health and environmental sustainability,” the researchers concluded.
“Self-attributable masculine / feminine gender differences between men provide insight into these phenomena,” the researchers wrote in their paper.

Eating meat and dairy products is harmful to the environment

Eating meat, eggs and dairy products can have a negative impact on the environment in many ways.

Cows, pigs and other livestock release large amounts of methane into the atmosphere. Methane in the atmosphere is less than other greenhouse gases, but about 25 times more effective than carbon dioxide in trapping heat.

Raising livestock also means turning forests into agricultural land. This means that trees that absorb CO2 will be logged, further increasing climate change. Approximately one-third of the world’s grain is used to feed animals raised for human consumption, so more trees are needed to convert land to crop cultivation. It has been cut down.

Factory farms and crop cultivation also require large amounts of water, and 542 liters of water are used to produce only one chicken breast.
In addition to this, the nitrogen-based fertilizers used in crops increase nitrous oxide emissions. Nitrous oxide is about 300 times more effective in trapping heat in the atmosphere. These fertilizers can also flow into rivers, further contributing to pollution.

Overall, research shows that becoming a
vegetarian can cut carbon emissions from food in half. You can reduce this even more by becoming vegan.

Vegans and vegetarians do not have great sex compared to Master Race Omnivores.

Once women taste Chad Thundercock, they not running back to soycuck tech bros.

This article was originally from the Daily Mail and look at the author of this article, why the fuck am I not surprised looking at his picture.

Also almonds take up more water than cows and the reason why California is in the shutter when it comes to water resources.

Really? Just...really? My poor Jewdar is overheating from all of these tricks lately.
Without even getting to the obvious tribal affiliation, let's see what Daniel's academic 'passion' is:

Oh look. A veggie-cultist. Quelle suprise.

Also, steak with sea salt, cracked pepper, and garlic butter is fucking delicious and I'll fight you if you say otherwise.

No shit? This is a given, other than the simple fact that meat tastes good and is usually nutritious. Sounds like another one of those studies done simply to use up grant money so they'll get more when the next round comes in.

Also almonds take up more water than cows and the reason why California is in the shutter when it comes to water resources.
Hope people still enjoy that almond milk knowing each carton takes a swimming pool's worth of water to produce.

Do you guys remember when the Green New Deal first came out and everyone backed off the FAQ saying they never really said that you couldn't get rid of farting cows and they were really embarrassed?

And then a couple of years later they're all openly saying that farting cows are the reason we have to shut down the entire meat industry?

What the fuck is happening?

America is a country of the blind led by the one eyed insane lunatic.

I'm so tired of these faggots sticking their noses into every aspect of people's lives. This is like saying that women only like dick because it makes them feel feminine, or people only smoke because it makes them look cool.

Maybe people just like what they like, so knock it off with the fucking bugs and girl dick fetishism.

California should be walled off and filled with cement to contain the radioactive waste.

Just a little sidenote (as long as this will yet again devolve into 'KiwiFarms Eat Da Bugs Thread #289578'), I was watching a video from QuarterPounder about how food is cancelled because a WaPo article about how labeling food as "exotic" is racist. I did a Google search for "exotic food" and mainly saw right wing news sites condemning WaPo, but in the related images on Google, I'd say most of them involved cooked bugs in one way or another -- like tarantulas and mealworms as food garnishes for "exotic food".

That being said, this article is yet another drop in the bucket of the bizarre and questionable recent push to eliminate meat from our diets.

All jokes aside about the Climate Loli and living in pods, but this article is definitely accelerating this new astroturfed anti-meat agenda. Hell, a few days ago there was a viral tweet from some smoothbrain blue checkmark who was telling people that grilling was bad and we should stop doing it. And then on the 4th of July I saw far more articles and social media posts about boycotting the holiday and its events than I did with regular posts about the holiday.

Since the past year or so, they've really really REALLY been pulling out all the stops with the anti-meat rhetoric. If you look at all of the "eat da bugs" articles in recent months and compare them with the retarded anti-grilling, anti-4th of July, and general anti-meat preaching as of lately, the writing's on the wall.

It's not manly unless you hunted it yourself. (Also, other than maybe in some small hunter-gatherer tribes like the Plains Indians who depended heavily on the buffalo herds, I don't think that there was any historical period where the majority of men were actually hunters).

Though I admit that the saturated fat craving is hard to beat - this is why eating vegetarian was easy if I just substituted meat with dairy and cheese, but trying to eat vegan was very taxing.
