Some time ago, maybe 10 years ago, the problem with the detrans stats was simply that a person desisting, detransitioning or whatever simply never shows up again to their medical treatment and no records were kept of this as a general rule. As far as I know there are still no routine records kept, and that was in the days before informed consent and self sourced medications. One of the bits of info they had back then was that they had high rates of drop out within long term studies as well, perhaps indicating that people were now on some level 'ignoring' their trans history, either by going stealth or by having detransitioned.

There’s little to no information because people who decide to detransition just drop their gender therapists/stop going to the gender clinics and move on with their lives. Sure, gender clinics could mention that data but there is no incentive to.

I wrote a bit about the most common detransition stat I hear a couple months back.

The tranny hive mind seems to be settling on around .4% (which like all tranny stats, is bullshit). It seems to come from the 2015 US Transgender Survey. There's a section on detransition (page 111) which says that 8% of respondents had detransitioned at some point, though 62% had since trooned out again (so only 3% of trannies "permanently" detransition). Furthermore, only 5% gave "They realized that gender transition was not for them" as the reason for detransition, which means .4% of the total sample "truly" detransitioned.

Of course, to be a tranny is to grossly abuse things and statistics is no exception. This survey is explicitly not representative, so drawing conclusions about the general population (even of trannies) isn't a good thing to do. It was a web survey conducted by and through a transgender advocacy group, advertised in trans media and advocacy circles. Then when you consider it was a 30-60 minute time commitment, of course people who seriously detransitioned weren't taking the survey. They weren't the target audience. So that .4% represents a floor for the detransition rate and probably a pretty significant one at that. My own guess is that the "true" detransition rate is probably between 1% and 5% (not including troons who 41% instead of detransition). And that's just people who actually transitioned to some degree; lots of gender non-conforming children and non-binaries desist without ever transitioning in the first place.

There's also something interesting when you look at the sex of detransitioners. The survey found that 11% of transwoman had ever detransitioned, while only 4% were transmen. This fits in well with the agp pattern of feeling shame because it is a fetish, purging and then trooning out again as they chase the dragon. Unfortunately the report doesn't give reasons for transition by birth sex, nor does it seem like the researchers even bothered to see if there were significant differences.

tl;dr- if a tranny tells you a statistic and it isn't plain wrong, there's probably something misleading about it. These people entire identity is based on lying.

Basically, it's bullshit and no one knows actually how many people detransition. There's also the problem of desistance vs detransition (ie most people who think they are trans and then stop thinking that never start transitioning), changing patterns in who transitions (and also who is approved for transition), suicide not counting as detransitioning (in some cases), and all sorts of other things that don't make prior trends good for predictions.

The divorce stat is bullshit too. That's another thing we simply don't have numbers for but it's probably significantly less.
