On paper, any grazing livestock can do what the tranchers did to a piece of land. That depends on how abundant the natural growth is on the land, and then the volume of animals present. A few chickens won't do nearly as much damage as a flock of sheep, who then won't eat as much as a full herd of grazing cattle.

The problem the Tranchers face, fundamentally, is the land they have is extremely marginal. It can grow sparse, hardy plant life, but that coverage won't grow particularly fast, and won't be particularly abundant. The carrying capacity of the land is probably 1-2 cattle. Alpaca's aren't going to eat as much as full on cows, but its not the multiple order of magnitude difference they'd need to actually feed a couple hundred sheep and alpaca's. Even supplemental feed won't prevent the environmental destruction, animals are natural grazers and will just munch on ground cover because its there. Destruction is inevitable at that density of animals.

Just to add some figures, a local reckoned that the carrying capacity of that land was one head of cattle per 30-50 acres. The Tranch is 36 acres so could sustainably support one cow. To convert that into other animals there is a scale of LU or livestock units where a cow equals 1, a sheep 0.15 and an alpaca 0.3. If they got rid of their cow, their land grows enough vegetation to feed SIX sheep or THREE alpacas. On sheep alone they have twice as many as they can feed. They have over FIFTY (yes FIFTY) times the number of alpaca that the land can sustain. That's why it looks like it's been stripped by locusts.

Is anyone keeping track of the alpaca numbers. They said 175 in that Al Jazeera documentary, which is a bit down from the 200 they had at Christmas.

They mention online death threats and harassment, so why don’t they have any screencaps, just these exchanges?

and they mention that violence against trannies is up (pressing x to doubt), but for some reason they felt it necessary to point out that it’s especially against nonwhite trannies. So why is that relevant to Snow White and the Nine Honky Troons? It almost feels like they’re trying to dissuade you from actually looking into the alleged rate of violence against TiMs by implying that it’s also racist.

oh, and if the Tranch is eco-friendly then why can I spot the borderline exactly where they turned the vibrant scrubland into a horrible brown slurry?

intrinsically queer alpacas
Alongside the former linebacker with female pronouns cursing like a sailor, the human embodiment of lethargy also with female pronouns and a dense five o'clock shadow, and the shitty farm they're running I can't be surprised they're trying to turn the alpacas gay.

It was posted ages ago in this thread but for environments like Colorado scrubland where there's not much vegetation, the recommended number of alpacas per acre is 1-2. The tranch alpacas are in the 4-5 range, so it really isn't a surprise they completely stripped the land in a year.

Edit: from the comments on that AJ video.

Interestingly this video has just been quietly uploaded on the AJ+ YouTube channel and hasn't been shared on their twitter, instagram, facebook or had an associated article on ajplus.net.

Anyway, Bonnie's in the comments.

AFAIK none of the tranchers have ever made anything out of the alpaca wool?

That would be a slightly (slightly) better business model as fans of the tranch who don't knit/crochet would buy it, but that would require them knowing how to make things or spending money to outsource (plus felting the wool for insoles).

They can't even make a shelter from the sun, I'd love to see what the hell they can do that could even remotely be passed off as a sock.

Why bother when they can make $100,000 appear out of nowhere whenever they want?

The only good thing about the tranch is the amusement we will feel with its inevitable, horrible failure.
I am only following this and Kevin’s pretty mundane thread for just that.
One day when Tranch explosion or amhole implosion finds itself on the frontpage I want to be up to date.

Also invested too many hours reading up on both just to drop them.

I'm hoping a fight breaks out between troons over god knows what transgression and they end up shooting each other in fits of spastic rage.

Spinning, weaving and knitting are stereotypical female activities.
So no, of course they don't do them. They view that kind of productive activity as beneath them and stick to Twitter and guns.

I'm not sure why they didn't tweet it because it would fit comfortably in their twitter stream which looks very much like the usual tranny one i.e. calling out human rights abuses from anywhere but the Arab world. I didn't scroll far enough to see if they were praising Iran for its troon friendly policies but I wouldn't be surprised to find them there.

They should start selling socks with the Tenacious Unicorn branding. Singly. It's not as if their fans will ever need the pair, is it?
