Never played it myself until the Mario 3D All-Stars thing on Switch. Had fun with 64, but it was a struggle to enjoy with the bad controls and camera. Sunshine is hard as hell, just like I remember but even harder. Then I tried Galaxy, the one everyone sucks the dick of.

It's trash. I don't say that lightly. Motion controls are always an instant nope (aside from Resident Evil 4, it's a miracle how it actually made the game better) so I tried it without them, and it's clunkier than I could've possibly imagined. I can't even activate the star rocket things.

I'm actually considering not even trying Skyward Sword now, Nintendo has proven they can't fix their shitty motion control games to play well without them.

Sorry for necroing this thread after almost 3 years, but after replaying it.....yeah, I actually kinda agree. I replayed Mario 64 not that long ago, and I had way more fun with that than with Galaxy. Nitro Rad's video on it is pretty much an exact mirror of my thoughts, so, here:

At least it's better than Mario Sunshine and Mario 64.
I enjoyed Mario 64. But after playing through so many N64 and PS1 "collect-a-thon" games where all you do to advance is find a bunch of random shit, I got so burnt out that I couldn't even enjoy Sunshine. After DK64 the whole thing was ruined for me. Galaxy had the same problem for me (on topo of being pretty gimmicky) but at least the music was great.
