iCarly is about to get steamy!
Jerry Trainor - who is reprising his role as Spencer Shay on the upcoming reboot - revealed that the Paramount+ series will be a bit more mature than fans of the original remember.
"We're going to toe that line, you know what I mean? It's not going to be super-raw," Trainor, 44, told Page Six. "But yeah, there's going to be sexual situations."

He added, "And you know, I say 'damn it' in the trailer, which had everyone in a tizzy, but you know we're grown-ups."

In the same interview, Nathan Kress - who fans know as Freddie Benson - told the outlet, "This is an adult show and it's not specifically for kids."
Kress, 28, continued, "And that's been exciting for us - to just see where these characters from a kid's show would be and where they are in their life now, 10 years later. But in a very realistic, non-glossy way."

Miranda Cosgrove has also spoken about the increased maturity of the series.
"My biggest hope for the revival is that it brings the people who watched the original series a lot of joy," the actress, 28, told J-14 in January. "The new show is mainly being made with all the original fans in mind."
Cosgrove added, "Although we hope families will enjoy it together, this version of the show will be more mature and follow our lives now."

iCarly originally ran on Nickelodeon from 2007 to 2012.
At the time, the show was intended for a younger audience and "sexual situations" were kept to simple smooches.

In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at the Paramount+ iCarly reunion special, Cosgrove opened up about some of the kissing scenes she filmed with actors James Maslow and Kress on the original series.
"I have two funny memories [from that time]," she began. "My first kiss I ever had in my whole life was with James Maslow in the episode where he was in a hospital bed, and I had to kiss him while he was unconscious."

She continued, "My second kiss I ever had in my entire life was with [my costar] Nathan on the show. Nathan had, like, a girlfriend or a girl he liked there on set that day watching us kiss."

The revival was announced last December and in May, the cast revealed the premiere date on June 17 while celebrating Cosgrove's 28th birthday.

Along with original cast members Cosgrove, Kress, and Trainor, new stars Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett will be joining the cast.
Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam Puckett in the original series, confirmed earlier this year that she had quit acting, and will not appear in the revival.
Speaking to Entertainment Weeklyearlier this month, Cosgrove revealed how the new show plans to tackle the whereabouts of McCurdy's character.

"We touch a lot on the whole relationship with Sam and where Sam's at in the pilot episode," Cosgrove said. "And then we mention her a little bit throughout the season, so we'll definitely explain that on the show."
The iCarly revival series premieres June 17 on Paramount+. In the meantime, fans can watch all six seasons of the original series on the ViacomCBS streaming service.

I’m glad to see Jeanette didn’t come back. Sam was always my favorite character and it broke my heart to find out later all the horrifying stuff was going on in the background.

On a side note at least all the people involved are fairly normal. They weren’t the Amanda Bines type Nickelodeon usually found.

This is such a weird time in history. Every aspect of pop culture and entertainment are hyper Sexualized to a comical degree but if you even look at a woman irl you'll be called a rapist, no one is having sex, and birth rates are the lowest they've ever been.

It's like a bad Star Trek episode.

One has to ask if it's made to confuse people. Our culture currently can't send a coherent signal about anything.

By sexual situations they probably mean dating or implying a character slept with someone. The actor is even admitting that saying "damn it" caused controversy so I doubt that they're making the series hyper sexual the way some may fantasize they would.

It's really dystopic but expected. When a society becomes sex starved, so to speak, they tend to project their desires into works of fiction. Desensitizing people to sex and relationships via media is as detrimental, if not more due to it's reach, than it is with pornography viewership.

Also: normalization of porn, sexualization of minors, clothing being more sexualized than ever, normalization of promiscuity, etc. While at the same time, virginity, and especially male virginity, is rising.

Another part feels like male sexuality is punished while female sexuality is promoted; men can't joke or talk about boobs or hot women, because that's harassment. , but you have heaps of articles telling women to masturbate, watch porn and sleep around and nobody bats an eye if women discuss men. Men are told to be respectful, because women aren't interested in their flirting, but women are told to wear sexual outfits because anyone saying otherwise is "slutshaming".

The only time you see male sexuality promoted is when it's "watch more porn, jerk off more". Never anything healthy like "this is how you can let a woman know you're interested" or "this is what women like in men, here are some tips"

It's a microcosm of America, really.

Half the country is afraid of sex, and the other half is the reason why.

...more seriously, the liberalization of sex from its proper confines means less security regarding the concept, so the libertines are making do with the wreckage.

The other issue is that 1) men are being given advice by women who have no idea what they want, as opposed to being given advice by men who can teach them how to be men (i.e. what women want, regardless of what they communicate), and 2) the "watch more porn, jerk off more" is advice given as a flippant retort-- male sexuality as a whole is rhetorically weaponized, arguably.

Moar like this.
Which is unironically a song about masturbating.

It's nice to see someone escape that shitty racket and decide their soul is worth more than some filthy shekels.
