Without looking up the article I'm guessing that they either completely ignore or acknowledge (but blame in some retarded way) that a big factor regarding those rates are where people choose to live; shockingly, someone living in rural "flyover country" is probably going to have less pollution to contend with than someone living in Los Angeles or another large city.

Actually that does explain plenty and if you asked me to "invent Neil Gaiman's wife from scratch" I think I would have pretty much nailed it.

I'm also curious how "open" the open relationship is - or if both of them just kind of agree that what happens on the road, stays on the road. (I really don't want to know either way.)
