Demi Lovato is calling on people to stop complimenting
weight loss
because it can be damaging for those who struggle with disordered eating.

Personally, Lovato said, every day they fight to remember they're more than their body, which is hard to do when they receive compliments about looking slimmer.

"Idk who needs to hear this but complimenting someone on their weight loss can be as harmful as complimenting someone on their weight gain in regards to talking to someone in recovery from an eating disorder," the singer wrote on their Instagram story on May 23.

Lovato, who recently said they were non-binary and use they/them pronouns, continued: "If you don't know someone's history with food, please don't comment on their body. Because even if your intention is pure, it might leave that person awake at 2am overthinking that statement."

Lovato, 28, said that sometimes it can feel great to receive those comments, but "only to the loud ass eating disorder voice inside my head" telling them they're more likable when thinner and should eat less to lose more weight.

Receiving compliments for losing weight can leave you wondering what people thought of your body before, Lovato said.

"Moral of the story: I am more than the shell for my soul that is my body and everyday I fight to remind myself of that, so I'm asking you to please not remind me that that is all people see of me sometimes," they wrote.

Lovato has been outspoken about their past experience with eating disorders and earlier this year got into a feud with a frozen yogurt shop over its "diet foods," as Insider's Callie Ahlgrim reported.

In 2018, Lovato told Insider that grappling with disordered eating is "a daily thing," and they have previously struggled with orthorexia and bulimia.

God damn is this bitch desperate for some attention.

Didn't she just come out as a gender blob like less than a week ago?

If you weren't able to get the attention you wanted with that kind of shit, you aren't going to get it by complaining about receiving compliments for healthy weight loss, after deliberately sharing pictures of it on social media...

Except that the 'shell' that holds your soul is largely impacted by your own decisions and will. So yes, it does reflect quite a bit about you and in this case you've even said that it is a daily struggle. So take the compliment you flabby turd.

I am more than the shell for my soul that is my body
No you literally are not. Did no ever inform the fat activists that fat piles up in your brain and that there is a direct correlation between weight and lower iq?

Also when did leftys get spiritual and start believing in souls? I thought these were the trust the science types?

Another day, another attempt at attention by Demi Lovato. Her antics are getting weirder by the day and she really should move away from LA in general because that place is full of attention whores just like her, and that isn’t good for ones mental health. This is especially true in Demi’s case where she’s trying to continually get more attention than the other attention whores, no matter how dumb it makes her look.

"you will only praise me in ways I approve of"

Modern Hollywood in a nutshell, folks.

I understand she likely got diddled by every Disney (((executive))) and after becoming a junkie, dried out and became this harpy instead. She has no talent and those executives have moved onto younger goy talent. I expect her to have meltdowns like this until she ODs.

Ew

I wasn’t sure what she meant by not wanting compliments on her weight at first but now I think I get it, she is trying to fight against fatphobia and does not want morbidly obese women to feel left out or excluded when they hear people complement herself so she is telling people do not complement me on my weight. I would have assumed complimenting her on her weight loss is a good thing, but Demi is trying to think of the feelings of other women who are not as small as her and don’t want them feeling not valid for their own weight. That’s nice then. I think.
