Twins, especially identical twins, tend to be weird in general in my opinion. I knew a girl in school whose twin died a couple of days after birth and it's something that really did seem to affect her in some way as she grew up. It was almost like she was in a constant state of mourning for this person she only knew two days out of her entire life. She's still kind of weird about it (posting pics of the grave online, wishing her happy birthday on their birthday, constantly bringing it up that she was supposed to be a twin.) I wonder how many oddballs out there were surviving twins too, maybe they absorbed the other in the womb or some shit. Anyway, Kelly seems so much worse off than her sister, so my guess is that her parent was probably the shitty one.

I can't imagine the care giver burnout Kelly gives the medical staff .
This would be the best case scenario actually (if She’d didnt die from the filthy conditions within a few months or piss off the nurses so much they recommend her for hospice)

if she was on 24 hour surveillance in a skilled nursing home they might actually be able to make a case for conservatorship. Once on conservatorship, the “patients rights” i mentioned earlier change a lot. She could still hurt herself but they could put her in a situation where she’d have no “rewards” for being sick and she might actually stop trying to make herself “sicker” esp if the consequences involved not having social media at all. She’d have no narcisstic supply and would be surrounded by people with TBIs, catatonia, and dementia.

Off conservatorship, the longest psych stay she could have is 3 days. On it, she could end up in permanent care.

It doesn't. Young people with complex needs that require LTC stay at the same LTC homes as old people. Some under-40s with complex conditions died of covid in the horrible LTC outbreaks last year. Some of those facilities were so strained that patients were left lying in piss for over a day, not being fed, etc. The army had to come in and help some of those places out because things got so crazy.
A bunch of them died of dehydration due to lack of caregivers.

250-862-4206 on the back of the wheelchair means she is at Kelowna General, not in Vancouver. Kind of what I figured, but others thought she was transferred.

Nice to see her giggling about not being able to cross her legs anymore.

So do we know when/if she lost the ability to walk before the surgery? In the crying video she claims to be "walking into the hospital", but she won't walk out. There's pictures of her standing unassisted, and while that does imply the ability to walk, I'd love to see video of her actually hobbling around on those fucked up sausages. Pair the last video of her walking with a video of her confined to a wheel chair/using prosthetics would be *chef's kiss*

And just a couple quick questions about medical maggots if anyone still wants to sperg on that.
1) What happens if you lose some inside the patient?
2) Is there a particular way to kill them when they're done with or does it matter?

slight pl but I'm a twin (fraternal) and even though my twin and I aren't super close and fight a lot, I can't imagine losing him. I've never known the world without him; he was the first thing outside myself I ever sensed, even before my mother. It'd almost be as if some essential part of my understanding of the universe would be ripped away with him. But I don't know

Wow, that is sad. I've know many people who have regretted getting a tattoo. I can't even imagine the regret she's going to feel when reality kicks in and not crossing your legs is not longer funny.

Edit: Just re watched the video, and it is really creepy the way she looks into the camera, then at her stubs, and back into the camera. It's like she's trying on a new dress, except that it isn't a new dress, it's her inability to ever walk again.

She never lost the ability to walk. I’m sure it was extremely painful, but she could still use her legs.

I know someone who ate their twin in the womb (fraternal) who turned out pretty okay, and only really looks at the fact they had a twin as an interesting hypothetical. But I also know a set of twins (identical) who are both pretty depressed. One of them does a lot of amphetamines and one of them trooned out. Not sure which of them has it worse really.

wow, have never heard of this but will look for the film. Imagine those parents finding out their children were being used for psychological experiments!? :o
That movie is well worth everyone's time. It's very good.

Twin sperg but I don't want to derail too much: there was an intervention Episode about twins who were both anorexic. They seemed to always be mirroring/ competing and it was so creepy to watch. Twins are really just fascinating, especially from a mental health standpoint

PL: I ate my identical twin in the womb and I consider myself pretty 'normal'. Never felt like I was missing a part of myself or anything like that. But my parents never mentioned it as a huge thing, you know? They never mourned the loss of another child or made it a huge part of our life/family story. My grandmother told me that I was left-handed because I ate my twin, but I sure that's an old wives tale or a fib she made up.

I think it comes down to nature versus nurture and how your parents treat you. If your sole identity is "twin", it's hard to find a sense of self. If the twins are raised separately and then reunited, one may feel neglected or upset of the opportunities their twin had that they didn't. They may try to play 'catch up' or, maybe like Kelly, want to be the 'special' twin. Yeah, my sister has a stable job and life, but I LOST MY LEGS. Being a twin is already considered being unique, maybe Kelly wanted to be MORE unique than Gina, she couldn't stand to share the spotlight or just be a twin.

But what do I know? I'm a just some shmuck on the internet.

I agree, although I think the twin-weirdness intensifies if the family dynamic is fucked up.

Many years ago I had a boyfriend who was an identical twin. I always knew it would never really go anywhere in commitment terms because he literally already had an ‘other half’. The other half of the same ovum.
In their teen years, the parents had been advised to send them to different high schools, so as to give them the experience of being seen as individuals, rather than as a pair. This resulted in a period of utter rage from the younger twin until the adults relented. They still live together now and are way past the usual age of marriage/kids, they are locked into a sort of perpetual adolescence. The interesting thing is that while they look similar enough that most people can’t tell which is which, they are completely different in personality and follow the same behaviour patterns as is commonly observed in an older sibling/younger sibling dynamic. The older one plays a pseudoparental role to the wilder, younger, one, despite there being only about 9 minutes between them. They also have completely different ‘types’ when it comes to women, and have never fancied the same one. I wonder if that’s some kind of evolutionary throwback re: creating a wider gene pool (only theoretical of course, because neither will ever have family beyond their twin).
The parents separated when they were young and it was a classic acrimonious divorce, they and their siblings were used as pawns. I guess they doubly bonded because
a) twins and
b) everyone else around them was unreliable.

Being a twin doesn’t necessarily mean being a fuck up, but it is/was their particular form of fuck up

does anyone know if Kelly is oldest or youngest?
I reckon youngest, based on the story in the spoiler.

divorce often fucks kids up real bad in the head, sounds like these two started clinging super hard to each other as a cope for essentially being semi-abandoned by their parents

A few weeks back I had a look through Ginas Instagram photos, particularly looking for ones with Kelly. Some of the hashtags she used had me wondering about their dynamic. Some of them, and comments, came across as snarky or didn't sit right somehow. Bitchy or competitive, just a feeling Gina sees herself as better and Kelly believes it. I only know a bit about their relationship, but I have been curious. Then again, I don't have any sisters, so maybe that's pretty normal/not uncommon.

Totally. They are raging alcoholics too. Completely co dependent. I like them both but you have to take them how they are because neither will self improve, they have no will to move on from their fucked up past because it’s all a shared experience and they won’t risk their futures diverging.

and in regards to Kelly, who do you cling to when your twin has been ‘taken’ from you by the ‘good’ parent? Kelly potentially has the same kind of parental abandonment issues as above but without the comfort of the twin.
if she is the youngest, then a lot of this self harming/attention seeking behaviour could be a maladaptive plea to the twin to ‘please come back and look after me, ’proof‘ that Kelly can’t cope without her?
The twin presumably doesn’t have the same abandonment issues because they were adequately parented (and are the older, more sensible twin? or because they have other half/step siblings to disrupt that stereotypical oldest/youngest dynamic?)

ultimately tho, all these people are adults and thus need to solve their own shit, but it is interesting to speculate how peoples‘ pasts affect their present and their future.

Everyone interested in twin stuff, I highly recommend a Netflix documentary called "Tell Me Who I Am." It's about a pair of British boy twins. The younger one gets amnesia as a teenager and gets to forget years of insane amounts of sexual abuse, while the older one has to decide if/what to tell him. Even though they're identical, as adults you can instantly tell which one remembers just by the lines on his face.

It seems the common denominator I'm Kelly and Russell's story was being separated from their twin. I wonder if Kelly wanting attention from the other parent sparked some of this?
