According to legalfagging on r/duggarsnark the feds like to make sure they have an airtight case and would need a grand jury to convene in secret in order to proceed with arresting him. That probably took time because of coof. I've also heard speculation about how if he was part of a larger bust they probably waited to go after him last to avoid tipping off any other pedos.

Itll be interesting to see if he sticks to a not guilty plea, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Duggar golden boy is dumb enough to think he can convince a jury in a federal CP case he isnt guilty. Either way you know Boob and Meech are throwing all their TLC money at his defense team.

When would he have been told the feds were investigating him for CP? I assumd it was sometime between the raid and arrest, but that's a huge window.

Sieves are more watertight than his excuse. If it were true, he'd have been able to produce the guy's name and info, security footage (I refuse to believe that in 2019, his car lot didn't have security cameras trained on the cars and all angles of the office), and when he figured this out, someone with a low-average IQ would even know they needed to file a police report to cover their own asses. He is monumentally stupid, but we already knew that, dude used his own name to sign up for a cheating site.

I'm assuming the indictment is a result of a sting using a honeypot site or undercover agent acting as a CP peddler, or someone in the CP community became an informant to reduce their charges as part of a larger case. What I don't understand is why it took them a year and a half from the time of the raid till the time they arrested him. Anyone have any ideas? Covid lockdowns started just over 3.5 months after the raid, but they wouldn't have waited that long to take a potential predictor away from access to so many children just because of covid, would they?
It’s very possible the raid in 2019 was related to financial crimes but found some forensic evidence of CP. They then give the computer back (with a sealed warrant for a key logger and a way to phone home) and Josh keeps at it, acting as the Judas goat in a larger sting.

The only catch to that is that the raid was in november 2019, and the indictment lists march (or maybe may) 2019 as the date he got the CP. I'm not convinced josh is bright or creative enough for white collar crime.

Isn't that the one everyone suspects is a lesbian? I remember some commotion a couple years ago about her "friend" and how she's probably a converted or repentant lesbian, still gay but pretending not to be.

I remember when people thought Jinger might be, since she was the one everyone would run off and leave the family.

Anna has many options outside of divorce and/or defecting from the cult. Her and Josh are pretty well off, so I imagine they have some sort of safety net, like a trust or something. Generally, the government only freezes your assets if you've been charged with a financial crime. Otherwise, they just lock your bank accounts and leave everything else alone. This is to say nothing of the other Duggars potentially offering financial support to her. If they're generous enough, she'll be able to keep her house.

Regardless of whether or not she's able to keep the property, she probably won't be staying there alone. Either she'll move in with one of the Duggars or they'll move in with her. After serving whatever sentence they give him, Josh will only be able to see his kids under special circumstances (though he might just start paying his parole officer to let him get away with whatever he wants). People charged with sex crimes involving minors aren't allowed to be around children unsupervised, but they generally keep their own kids unless their spouse sues for custody. Frankly, convicted pedophiles should lose their children, but that's a topic for another day.

I doubt Josh will be able to dodge a prison sentence entirely. He might get reduced time at a more cushy facility, but his defense is flimsy and the case against him is pretty strong.

They live in a windowless, only semi climate controlled/insulated warehouse/shed on the duggar compound.

eta: this article isn't from the greatest source, but it was the first one that popped up. You'll see the info about the shed, but here's the interesting part:

Josh and Anna sold the farmhouse home they resided in since 2015 in the summer of 2019 for $285,000.

As The Sun reported, Jim Bob, 55, bought a property in Springdale, Arkansas in October 2016 for $325,000, according to property records.

He then sold it to Soli Deo Gloria, an LLC in Anna’s name, for $257,078 in June 2019.

Though fans suspected it would be their new home, Anna put the five-bedroom, four-bathroom house on the market for $799,000.

e2 There was speculation a year or so ago on r/duggarsnark that their kids sleep in the main house, not the shed. I can't remember if there was any receipts, or if it was just run of the mill speculation.

You don't have to be bright. It was a possibility, but I still wouldn't be surprised if they'd raided him for CP, put something to keep track of his activities on that computer during the raid, and just let him further hang himself, hoping to catch a few other people in the net.

pretty sure the lblp leader is also a pedo.
Rumor has it Gothard diddled a bunch of girls who went to IBLP camps and worked in their offices.

They have six, soon to be seven kids, Josh hasn’t worked since he got outed for molesting his sisters, and live in a semi-converted warehouse on his parents front yard. He probably pissed away all their liquid cash on that stupid lawsuit with the pornstar and against the state of Arkansas. Anna’s Counting On appearances have probably been the bulk of their income.

Jana worked in Gothard's office for a while, and also was constantly being sent to the "journey into the heart" reprogramming camp. If she was one of his victims, between that and being touched by her brother, it's no wonder she doesn't want to get married.

The only person who gets paid for counting on is jim bob. When Jill cut ties, she and her husband got a lawyer involved to get the compensation she should have received. Derick has been spilling the tea on twitter.

Shit went down in his bond hearing today. r/DuggarsSnark has some good coverage here

Choice highlight:
>"A HP desktop computer from the car lot, a MacBook laptop in an RV Josh arrived in and Josh’s cell phone were confiscated by authorities. Though Josh did was not informed of the reason for the investigation, he asked authorities if someone downloaded child pornography on his computer."

For the legalfags out there, here's Josh's bond motion. Since my legal experience consists of reading Russell Greer lawsuits I'll let a smarter Kiwi than I dissect it.

Could you post with images not for ants?

Yeah I was about to say, doesn't Jim Bob control the purse strings and uses it to manipulate and punish the kids? I would imagine Anna being able to get money, even stuff she should be entitled to, depends largely on JB being happy with her and divorcing his golden boy would probably make him complete cut her off.

The Feds won’t bring a case unless they can win it, and their criminal case win rate was 97% a few years ago. Idk what it is now.

Whatever they’ve got, it’ll be nearly airtight.

The CP he downloaded is some nasty shit. There were 2 files downloaded: one was a picture of 7-9 year old girls being raped, the other was a zip archive of 64 pictures of girls in that age group.

He also had a software called Covenant Eyes installed which basically sends screenshots to your wife to make sure you're not looking at porn. But he installed a Linux partition to get around it. (And yet was too dumb to use a VPN?).
Edit: The VERY SAME DAY he installed the Linux partition, he downloaded Tor and looked up rape porn and CP. At work. And apparently the CP is one of the worst the witness had ever seen.

Something called DD. Maybe an abbreviation? Anyway, yeah, he used TOR on a linux partition. The only potential 'excuse' he's got is the ISP stuff didn't include MAC addresses so the warrant might not be valid. He's hoping to slide here on a technicality, any kind of technicality what so ever. It ain't happening,

Fuck but that is horrific.

So hang on a tic, they took his machines away without telling him why and his first thought was to say, “OH NO DID SOMEONE ELSE PUT CHILD PORN ON MY PC??”

Truly the dumbest of all god’s children.

He implicated himself without prompting and without being under detention. About the only POSSIBLE excuse he might, just might be able to get a retrial under would be 4th amendment issues, which is really his only hope. That almost certainly is not what is going to happen here, as minor procedural mistakes done in 'good faith' often are allowed to stand.

He's fucked, like super super fucked. Ungodly fucked. Fucked beyond belief fucked.

EDIT: As it is a shared computer, really the only hope he has is reasonable doubt that it could be someone else. I don't think Daddy Duggar has someone willing to take the fall for Josh though within the family. So yeah, feds aren't going to hold back what so ever.
