Probably super late to this but:

This is proof Phil plays games purely for money. He's complaining about a roguelike game being a rougelike. Complaining about a rougelike game being a "time-waster" because you have to play through it over and over again is like complaining about Final Fantasy having too many Japanese role playing elements. He bought the game because new releases generate viewers and money while doing no research on the game AT ALL.

"Just because the game lives up to the type of game it's suppose to be doesn't mean it's acceptable to audiences in 2021."

WHAT?!?!?
Don't just sit there, let's get to it
Throw me cash, there's nothing to it

Rogue

Ooh, you've got to
Let your wallet open for the stream tips
Ooh, you've got to just
Let your money go out the door

Ooh, you've got to just...
Rogue

Unrelated to anything else really as I catch up on this thread post departnering but do you think Phil still gets large late night tips from whales like he used to?

Back circa Tut he used to get large tips over night and mention them sometimes because it was related to Pokemon/etc. I wonder how much money he's still waking up to at random 'behind the scenes'

Not while he needs the paypigs on full alert... and at this point I don't see him calling that high alert off.

As long as he feels like he isn't secure, he probably won't give the paypigs a chance to tip off hours because he will be sounding whale calls and milking them dry during the day.

Expect that if someone does, he will be upset they didn't do it while he was awake so he could spend it asap.

How will he turn 'the spill' into 'a detractor did it' meme?
As long as he doesn't read the plans detailed in the super secret reehouse thread, there's no way he can spin it that way. The whole thing will become LIMB fodder for his chat trolling him for pissing himself or jacking it again and missing the tissue.

Jesus Christ, this manbaby is really incapable of disliking something respectfully, isn't he?

A normal adult would just say that the game isn't his cup of tea and that'd be it. But manchild Phil has to make it seem like it's the game's fault that he sucks at it.

I hope some of his autistic viewers love the game and Phil insults them like he did with Swagginz.
This is one of the reasons he comes off as liberal. I don't think he is, but he resembles a leftist douche so much I can't blame anyone for connecting the dots. He's like the SJWs who bitch about some movie that everyone is talking about but they don't like the looks of it so time to trash on it while pretending they have a valid point.

IMO, Tut tipped large simply to slap down Swagginz. Phil profiting from it was an unfortunate side effect.

Tut bounced in when Swagginz was on a near constant spree of sucking his own dick in chat about how much shit he could afford.

Tut overplayed his hand and suggested that Phil drop Swagginz. If he would've played it cool, Swagginz would've stormed out and Tut would've been Phil's new number 1.

As for the rest; Phil has his up's and downs during the late night streams. Time will tell if it's going to be permanent.

So Kat's interested enough in Phil's work to watch his streams but not interested enough to appear on one, if only to confirm that they are still married? Even Barb Chandler sometimes appears in Chris' videos to confirm she's not dead and she's one foot in the grave. What gives?
Well, I spoke too soon.

There are two main reasons why Phil isn't making any progress in returnal. First is his usual stalling. Second is his stream model is trash and doesn't allow him to focus properly. Phil at his very best already isn't very capable of intense focus, but his new latest tip whaling scheme and his stop to talk about food segments make it nearly impossible. It has some psychological reasoning behind it, too:

He can't talk and walk. This is why most streamer commentary is mostly running during action and lore during downtime. Because it's a system that works, and it feels natural. You can lazily solve resident evil puzzles you've solved a million times while holding a conversation, but if the zombies are on your ass, you usually shift focus to solving that, then retake the conversation afterwards. It affects your brain, too. Conversation typically makes you think in language, action and problem solving make you think in jolts of information. Phil's habit of complaining also contributes to him frequently breaking focus. His WWE Champions breaks also do this. While sometimes he's come back from break fresh off having read a guide and watched a video (Guardian Ape, natch) with a performance boost, he normally has to get back in the zone after a break. Whenever intense focus is achieved varies from person to person. You can work on bringing it to as little as 5-10 minutes to be focused on something, but Phil at his best used to take nearly an hour to be warmed up. Nowadays he just doesn't seem to get focused at all. Most studies regarding this state that the best performance comes after an hour of focus, and starts dwindling after 4 hours of focus.

Now, if you wanna do a little experiment, have someone constantly talk to you in complex conversational situations while you're playing a bullet hell/fighting/action/whatever else that requires fast reactions and intense focus. Not just do you like what I'm wearing, did you get milk, sort of glance yes/no answers. A proper conversation like tell me right now what is the meaning of life, tell me how to get through a different videogame level than the one you're playing right now, give me directions to the store, tell me what you want to eat for the entire week. And if you don't answer promptly, the person gets impatient and annoyed at you, while they can none the less see the hamster in your brain struggling to make the wheel turn. Eventually they just resort to the classic "Helloooo, are you hearing meee, why don't you listen to meee (reeee)". If you're not even looking at them, and you're still focused on the task at hand, if they decide to walk up and touch you, you might even get startled.

People who have their focus broken will almost always feel bad about it. Irritated, frustrated, sometimes even angry at whoever broke it depending on the terms it was broken on. And then, their decreased performance will in turn make them feel extra bad about it. This is why sometimes Phil is toxic to his chat out of seemingly nowhere, just because he has trouble concentrating and they keep pestering him about what he had for dinner two moons ago and whether Kat nuked it or boiled it in plain water that time. Some people just have an unbreakable focus, which then in turn annoys the people trying and failing to break it. It gets a lot of attention in male vs female thought process talks. It's a biological prerrogative that most men have, and usually women perceive it as a problem that needs to be worked on.

Just try to get through your favorite game without dying, but every minute and a half you have to stop to type a thank you note to Shubbidy Bubbidy for joining the Hate Army, which doesn't exist. That shit will legit make you barely able to contain your chimp-like rage. And if you want to play the experiment on hard mode, do it like Phil: Put down your controller, lean over to the laptop, type the thank you note to Shubbidy, answer the question which will undoubtedly be about food, lean back, pick up controller, carry on playing. A game you're not familiar with, and you don't even like. Switching constantly between action and conversation think types, as hard as Phil does it, is bound to make a saint froth at the mouth. Phil should really just automate it with a good word filter. But then, he'd miss out on all the stalling.

TL;DR: Phil better send Returnal to the shadow realm fast. The amount of gameplay he actually does is simply not enough to complete it. He also doesn't allow himself to focus. He chooses to walk over sprinting for no discernable reason, slowing the pace to a crawl and bloating the time between encounters, and improvement. Not even a "done by christmas 2023" like Divinity, or "Four month long playthrough on a 12 hour game" Danganrompa, just actually, literally unbeatable game. Phil doesn't play this frequently or well enough to get any improvement. Either he completely lucks out with RNG rooms always giving him a pillar to cheese around, which I don't even know if it's possible, or we will be doing Biome 1 streams until late 2022. Phil's struggling with a level that is simply not a tutorial, and the difficulty spikes are yet to come. Phil flat out refusing to fight a boss just to get some knowledge on the boss, opting instead to trundle around the map for an extra life is peak Phil: Fuck getting good, fuck actually getting into the game, just find cheese to scrub out wins and take a victory lap. Funny that he ended up dying to a basic enemy and hardstalling for the remaining 20 minutes.

-EDIT-
Most of the 5k came in the first 4-5 days right?

Oh yes, most definitely: $3,615, so 65% of the current total, was generated in the first 5 streaming days.
