/mu/fag here. So, there's some rumors floating around that a troon group on Discord is purposefully shilling Ethan's music on /mu/ by constantly creating threads praising it. There also seems to be a belief that Ethan goes on /mu/ and creates these threads himself to shill. Neither are confirmed with any evidence that I've personally seen, just food for thought.
The general consensus in these shill threads is that the music itself is obviously not well received. /mu/ generally hates Ethan's music and recognizes it as derivative and the work of a self-mutilating lunatic, but there seems to be handful of troons white-knighting and defending his music. They are very much in the minority and very stubborn; it's kinda uncanny. Ethan's fans are like troon cultists.
The white-knights were silent in this particular thread, but trust me, they're there.
It seems to me that these same troon white-knighters are likely the same group that posts threads about "Laura" Les of 100 Gecs, which contain pretty disgusting comments like "She's so cute and adorable".

It’s really no secret that these people will shill the ever living fuck out of ethans work, it’s reminiscent of yanderedev in a way where it’s intended to be aimed at the users of the board but ends up coming off as massively forced and out of touch.
Trying to shill sewerslvt to /mu/tists is like trying to feed gordon ramsay gas station sushi. The main source of ethans audience that i’ve seen has been through edgy, young, and impressionable discord users who get the music recommended to them through either youtuber or spotify.
Unrelated but laura les looks viscerally uncomfortable in every photo i’ve seen of them.

It's especially sad because there are plenty of better (albeit just as morally questionable) artists in Ethan's genre that are much more deserving of shills; that actually put artistic effort into their music. I feel as if the only reason they get attached to Ethan's music in particular is because they're left wingers and have some kind of sad vendetta against "transphobia," or feel like they have to white-knight him due to his identity; thus creating a sort of echo chamber in their own community in which they need to enable Ethan's disturbing delusions and fetishes because "trans people are so valid!" rather than actually encouraging him to get help.

The combination of his extremely braindead and immature community and utterly effortless content is what makes him worthy of being called a lolcow in the first place IMO. When it comes to all of the drama surrounding his use of child porn, being a tranny, glorifying mental illness and drug use or idolising suicide there are plenty of other artists guilty of that in the same genre, the only difference being that these people are actually talented and don’t constantly make a complete dick of themselves.
Ethan is blatantly trying to game the system and create his own little bubble by using every little foothold he has, and it’s working out pretty well. As soon as we threaten his career by compiling facts about his past he panics and goes full schizo mode, hoping his white knights will stop people from seeing anything that could harm his reputation

That's why I drew a parallel between his fans and cultists. They're so hopelessly deluded and being used by a greasy pedophile to justify sick and perverted fantasies and his ability to indulge in them so openly. While it's fun to laugh at them scrambling to defend him and the sheer ridiculousness of being so blatantly ignorant of Ethan's non-existent regard for human decency, it's ultimately sickening to watch, too.

I struggle to believe that there’s people who like his music for the content, it comes across as something people listen to so they can fit an aesthetic or just tell others they listen to quirky/out there edgy music.
