I'm sure a DA could charge them with those things, but the problem with places like Portland is that the DA's office is filled with commie scum who actively refuse to charge antifa, protestors, and other "comrades" with anything at all, and let them go with the lightest possible penalties, while attempting to charge the terrified driver with vehicular assault if one of these assholes gets glass in their eye shattering in someone's window.

OTOH the reason you don't hear about people blocking intersections in right leaning areas of the country is because prosecutorial discretion goes both ways, and right leaning DA's will charge the protestors, or decline to prosecute someone for running over a protestor while fearing for their lives.

The US had been openly hostile to the Reich for some time--lend-lease, Destroyers for Bases, the Atlantic Charter... The declaration was really only a formality. The isolationist lobby in the US well-knew that this would be the result, which is why they urged their government to cut that shit out. That's why Von Ribbentrop yelled "Your President wanted this war; well, now he has it!" at his American counterpart when informing him of Germany's declaration.
