Well, I imagine Porky Bob is gonna squee over this.
I hope he does, especially if it turns out as racist as it looks. He could get canceled. More. Turning Utonium into a black guy and making him a shitty dad, when his core characteristic was being a good and kind father. Picking the most violent of the girls and making her black. And if they code Mojo, a literal ape, black.

This is like they hired a committee to say "what can we do to make something absolutely nobody will like?" And then threw in stuff to piss off everyone from alt-right chuds to the wokest of SJWs.

Everything about Cartoon Network started going down hill when they stopped doing the What A Cartoon Show. Had helped launch the Power Puff Girls, Courage The Cowardly Dog, and even was part of the origins of Family Guy.

Though honestly with the Power Puff Girls live action I really think it'll be as serious as Charmed was, which while it had some semi-serious moments, also had episodes like the one where a character makes her breasts larger.

Given the network the show is going on, they probably are just trying to appeal to teenage girls and those that aspire to be them (soyboys and middle aged women). It'll have the mild seriousness of the girls dating, with constant quips like they're in a Marvel movie, and otherwise be mostly mediocre like Charmed was.
It's probably going to be a tad camp yeah. I think a lot of us were just expecting dark & edgy since that's the worst possible outcome or most entertaining lol

The one thing I remember about this is that it's implied that Mandy helped 9/11 happen.
Excuse me, what?
Hey, remember how they had the original costumes in that principal photography shoot?

Yeah, I'm positive that was the flashback sequence where the end up killing Mojo and then break up the group.

Here's what I'm certain their ACTUAL main appearance is supposed to be based on this newly released advertisement.

God help us all.
Okay, so I guess the Powerpuff Girls take fashion advice from the Power Rangers when they get older.

Excuse me, what?
Today...I will remind them.

However it's done it's looking like it is going to be epically bad, maybe even bad enough to hate watch, although I'd torrent it to avoid even giving a fraction of a penny in ad money to the sick ghouls who would make such a thing.

Craig McCracken is rolling in his grave and he isn't even dead.

I think I’ve spent more streaming on older TV shows than anything new.

On the subject of a live action PPG; it really is a show that does not translate to well to real life format, at all. But if you absolutely had a to make a live actions PPG, people have pointed to The Tick as much more fitting to the spirit of the show. A PPG show like that would be very tongue in cheek, lighthearted, and most importantly, self aware. It could have been a good example of a show growing with the audience.

Instead, they went baffling route of being an Arrowverse/Riverdale clone a few years too late.
This is the silver lining and the irony is now old media is literally more accessible than ever before, so there's literally no reason to watch something like this.

Even cheesy and trashy shows from yesteryear like Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction or Deadliest Warrior are more worth watching and entertaining than the majority of modern media.

I myself have been a huge streaming kick lately (no Netflix but Amazon Prime and HBO Max) and have watched a bunch of older stuff I either never would have before or revisiting stuff I probably never would have bothered to buy DVDs of (if DVDs were available at all)

It's pretty great but does feel like a Monkey's Paw scenario where the cost is modern media becoming unwatchable garbage, which is too bad.

The What A Cartoon Show was amazing, so many of those shorts I wish had been picked up for full series that never were but even when they weren't the sheer variety of it all was cool.

The 1990s was such a great time for animation that even the one offs of What A Cartoon were usually very entertaining.

It was great, Nickelodeon by the latter half of the 1990s had already lost some of the shine that made it so special to me when I was really little, but there was CN to pick up the slack for the second half of my childhood with their own great shows.

I even enjoyed a few CN shows like Megas XLR and Teen Titans well into my teens, in fact I regret not watching more CN as a teen but my focus was Adult Swim.

It's actually funny when I stop and think about how much Ted Turner networks shaped me into the man I am today, from movies I saw on TNT and TBS as a kid to cartoons I saw on CN to my first real introduction to anime with Toonami and then later Adult Swim.

Thanks Ted.

Few shows released today can capture my interest more than just going back and watching a couple old episodes of shows like Psych, Monk, and Chuck on Prime. That era of TV was great, right before every single show started getting woke or super-serialized, and people still had fun with it.

I'm too busy looking at bubbles to puke at buttercup

My expectations for the costumes is that they start out in the throwback costumes but at the end of the first episode they'll have some ceremony about putting the past behind them and will either burn or throw them in the trash and the episode will end with them in the new costumes.

I never watched shows like Psych, Monk, and Chuck back then but I have noticed they're on Prime and it's definitely something I'm interested in now, I'm sure it beats any Woke garbage.

Like I said, even stupid shit from yesteryear that you may have rolled your eyes at at the time is more fun to watch now than anything Woke.

If they're not even wearing costumes that resemble the cartoon costumes for most of the show, what really, is the entire fucking point?

I got an idea for Batman, he'll wear blue jeans and a t shirt and not even a mask or cowl, the shirt won't even have a Bat logo on it, but he'll still go around fighting crime and insist everyone call him "Batman", it'll be a smash hit for sure!

Actually, Craig did an interview with Syfy back in January where he said he was interested in this show, mainly because he liked Greg Berlanti's superhero shows

Boy is he in for a wild ride....
Diablo Cody is involved with this shit? That would explain... everything!

The nicest thing I can say about this show is it is kind of cool that they want to have CN characters be seen in the same light as DC comics characters or anything else WB owns, but they're going about it in the wrong way.

The PPG do feel like they'd fit right in with the Titans or some similar team.
