I was recently thinking about something? You know how TRAs like to insist that chromosomes aren't a reliable indicator of someone's sex because there are ways to have a XX phenotype with a XY karyotype or an XY phenotype with an XX karyotype (these are incredibly rare and it's debatable whether the highly mutated chromosomes involved can really be considered an XX or XY karyotype)?
Well one of the conditions that causes this is Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome, specifically
Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS). CAIS is a mutation of the X chromosome that causes your body to not react to androgens. They are still born with male sex organs because those start developing due to the SRY gene which is on the Y chromosome, but will usually be able to pass as (mannish) females throughout their life and so traditionally they cut that off and declare them to be females. And an interesting thing about CAIS is that females (of the XX or X or XXX karyotype) can have CAIS. It's not an issue because their development is not as dependent on androgens.
But I was thinking, what if a TiF had CAIS and discovered it when her T shots did absolutely nothing? Wouldn't that be something? This severe intersex disorder that troons love to use as a shield for their retardery would actually
prevent someone from trooning out. The irony would be absolutely delicious, but unfortunately I suspect that it's never happened. CAIS is already quite rare, and an actual female would need to have no normal X chromosomes. Add to that, she'd have to be a troon.
But there have been a few cases of XY individuals with CAIS doing some troon-adjacent things, but it can be quite traumatic to find out that you were basically surgically experimented on because doctors didn't quite know what to do with you, especially since the doctors often lied to the child and their parents about the whole thing.
- Erik (nee Ericka) Schinegger was a female Olympic champion. When he discovered that he was biologically male he transitioned to male, returned his medals, and spoke about how in spite of his condition he knew he was always much stronger than females his age. Until recently Wikipedia labeled him a "transman".
- Caster Semenya has PAIS, has an obvious male phenotype, and was probably raised as a male in spite of his intersex condition. TRAs want to use him as a wedge to get into women's sports. They insist he is a "cis female". That's a fucking lie, he's an intersex trans-identifying male. I don't know if he's a pawn or a TRA.
- Seven Graham is a comedian with CAIS. He does the whole they/them pronouns thing, and while it's still silly it's understandable considering that he was lied to about his sex and neutered and put on HRT as a child.
achshuly if you look at the phenotype of this chromosome you'll see that she is a he". She's not going to care, and will probably just ignore you and go back to posting feel good messages about poc and trans folks™.
