To be fair it's just not those words exactly. There's been enough advice given to incels to fill a book. A lot of it being constructive... and actually helpful.

Other people around them, including therapists, can try to help them but they also have to take steps to help themselves. it's also hard to help people who ask for it but then reject every single suggestion given to them- at that point it's them wasting time.

Like, I could tell a friend of mine that maybe a change of hairstyle/hair colour, glasses that don't make him look like a pedo, getting a fucking hobby, and having an inside voice for once instead of being loud and obnoxious would be useful if he doesn't want to be an unfuckable twat for the rest of his young adult life. Whether he takes that advice he asked for to heart or not is up to him, but it's completely on him if he's all shocked Pikachu when he ignores it, and is mad about being a virgin at 25 because women avoid him like a beach in the height of the coronavirus.

Whether they've been 'fucked over' is exactly what makes the difference.

When the older man says "I'm done with relationships", presumably it's something that he tried and decided wasn't worth it. And that's ok. Maybe he lost his sex drive, maybe it just wasn't rewarding for him, maybe he's just too much of a loner to live with someone long-term. These are all acceptable and don't make him any less of a man for wanting to be single. He probably views women as people (from experience) and could probably get laid if he really tried, it's just not worth the time and effort to him. You may think this is unwise in the long run, but whatever, his body his choice.

The incel, on the other hand, is going his own way insofar as a car with a flat tire is. He couldn't get laid in high school, so in sour-grapes fashion he decided that all females are shit anyway and not worth his time. Because incels weren't dating in the first place. You can't opt-out of a game you were never playing.

Further, OG MGTOWs had actual (dare I say legitimate) grievances with the actual system (i.e. divorce courts). A judge awarding your cheating ex-wife full custody of your kids + alimony just because its assumed women make better care takers than men is an actual legal diservice - "teh vapid staceys wont date me, they only date chads!" is not.

Additionally, modern MGTOWs are still obsessed with sex, but with the caviat that anime waifu 2D titties and sex bots can satisify all their desires for a sexslave wife. other than the most obvious "violent rhetoric leading to real life violence" answer - that ideology further alienates them from anyone who doesn't ascribe to it, decreasing their chance of having meaningful connections with anyone outside the incel circle. most incel communities don't encourage any meaningful growth or change for their members, and the ones that do are usually only pushing people to make themselves more physically attractive, which doesn't fix the problem. the incel community is one big crab bucket - everyone has to be miserable. no one is allowed to be hopeful or want to succeed, it's all brushed off as "cope" or "bluepill ideology." it's not a healthy community to be a part of and is actively kneecapping any chances these men have of improving their situation.
