Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated star of “Juno” and Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” has announced he is transgender.

Elliot, formerly known as Ellen Page, addressed his social media followers saying:

“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society,” he wrote.

“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive. To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better,” Page continued.
Page uses both he/him and they/them pronouns, and describes himself as transgender and non-binary, meaning that his gender identity is neither man nor woman.
Nick Adams, GLAAD’s Director of Transgender Media, said “Elliot Page has given us fantastic characters on-screen, and has been an outspoken advocate for all LGBTQ people. He will now be an inspiration to countless trans and non-binary people. All transgender people deserve the chance to be ourselves and to be accepted for who we are. We celebrate the remarkable Elliot Page today.”
Page broke out from his native Canada in 2005 with the revenge thriller “Hard Candy.” Two years later, he starred in Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody’s landmark indie “Juno,” for which Page received an Academy Award nomination among other accolades.
HIs notable roles include Kitty Pryde in the “X-Men” series, Christopher Nolan’s “Inception,” “Whip It!” and Sony’s reboot of “Flatliners.” He has produced and starred in films such as “Tallulah” and “Freeheld,” and last year marked his directorial debut examining environmental racism faced by people of color and the First Nations communities of Canada.
Prior to transition, Page was one of the most visible out gay actors in Hollywood. The Tuesday announcement further enriches his legacy, and adds him to a small but growing number of out trans creators and stars in Hollywood. This includes performers (Laverne Cox, Trace Lysette, Brian Michael Smith) and creators (The Wachowski Sisters, “Transparent” creator Joey Soloway).
Last year, Variety broke the news of the groundbreaking overall content production deal that Netflix signed with Janet Mock, a noted trans storyteller and director of shows like “Pose” and “Hollywood.”

If/when the tranny tide turns, Page is going to be at the forefront of the troon victim movement, claiming she was suckered by deceitful docs into getting her tits lopped off. Not because she was suckered, but because it will be the next and most fashionable way to embrace a new identity. Still a victim, but with that new detransitioner spin.

I could see it going either way. Page might spurn her old identity and be an equally irrational/hateful warrior against it, or she'll double down on the bullshit. If she realizes she made a mistake before a backlash happens, most likely she'll kill herself. If a backlash happens within the next decade, it could breathe new life into her identity if she goes the double-down route.

Having some windmills to tilt at is probably the main thing keeping people like this from necking themselves.

She looks unnaturally skinny in the picture, like she has thyroid problems...

Nah. She's just a vegan who's likely using it as an excuse to be borderline anorexic.

Ah, so she's claiming she already got her tits chopped off? Wonder if she's telling the truth. Either way not like she didnt start pretty flat.

Started wanting to be a boy around the age girls usually start puberty, parents treated her with a double standard compared to boys, yep, I'll take self loathing woman with internalized misogyny.

But he does remember the acute feeling of triumph when, around age 9, he was finally allowed to cut his hair short. “I felt like a boy,” Page says. “I wanted to be a boy. I would ask my mom if I could be someday.” Growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Page visualized himself as a boy in imaginary games, freed from the discomfort of how other people saw him: as a girl. After the haircut, strangers finally started perceiving him the way he saw himself, and it felt both right and exciting.
[...]
Another decision was to get top surgery. Page volunteers this information early in our conversation; at the time he posted his disclosure on Instagram, he was recovering in Toronto. Like many trans people, Page emphasizes being trans isn’t all about surgery. For some people, it’s unnecessary. For others, it’s unaffordable. For the wider world, the media’s focus on it has sensationalized transgender bodies, inviting invasive and inappropriate questions. But Page describes surgery as something that, for him, has made it possible to finally recognize himself when he looks in the mirror, providing catharsis he’s been waiting for since the “total hell” of puberty. “It has completely transformed my life,” he says. So much of his energy was spent on being uncomfortable in his body, he says. Now he has that energy back.

No matter how hard they try, trannies can NEVER pass for the opposite gender. She STILL has very feminine features. If you talk to her, I'm sure you she still has very feminine mannerisms and a female tone to her voice. She will never be a man. She doesn't even make a good manlet.

Not the first time I've seen people blame the pandemic for making them overthink gender. I don't get it. It's just like, "Well, I didn't feel like putting on makeup since I'm not going out today, so I guess I'm a guy." A friend of mine turned nb a few months ago with this same reasoning. And it would be fine if the revelation was like "you know, I'm not going to change the way I look to please other people, it's too much effort" but then they turn around and hack their boobs off so ... glad isolation made you desperate for social attention I guess.

Had she transitioned years ago she might actually look decent. But uhhhhh why she look like those Justin Bieber photoshopped pics of him as girl

She looks like she always has. I wouldn't know she "transitioned" if you hadn't told me.

She looks like that lonely creepy dude you try to be nice to and invite over to play video games with the crew, but he keeps touching people a little too much so that never happens again.
Being a woman is playing life on easy mode, and she couldn't even do that, now she wants to play on hard mode as a short guy without a huge penor. And there's idiots who say this isn't a mental illness. FFS

Hasn't every lesbian or tomboy felt like they wished they could be a boy one day? Pretty much all girls wonder what it'd be like to be a boy, and feel like there'd be fewer limitations on them, like being able to run around without a shirt in hot weather, not having to act ladylike, not being ogled or harassed by creepy old men, dating girls and not being considered weird or having to deal with homophobia etc. Doesn't mean they actually are boys or need to troon out.
I worry she's projecting trooning onto something that a lot of girls go through, and then they'll be convinced they're actually trans. Or they would, if they or anyone were reading Time.

I miss 2007, she was actually cute in Juno.

That feel when you realize that 2007 was long enough ago and different enough that you could very easily make a period piece movie set in the year now, "Kids" by MGMT would be perfect for the soundtrack.

We already got the movie Ladybird which was 2002, 2003.

And isn't it insane that people really want to believe it's the opposite? Puh fucking lease.

It's not that ladies don't face unique challenges that men don't, but pound for pound anyone who thinks being male is the "easy mode" is a complete idiot.

I wonder what they think having an actual penis and what male orgasm/ejaculation feels like?

They'll also never know ball itch and can you really call yourself a guy if you've never experienced that?

Ten years from now and she will be only one of the many trans celebrities who will detransition and will write books about how toxic the LGBT community is, and how doctors never cared about their mental illness.

Also, trans since 9 years old? Please, rewriting the past is typical of troons. Page evidently has a lot of unsolved emotional and mental issues, transitioning and chopping her boobs won't magically cure her ailments. I know an enbie who got a nipple-less mastectomy, and she's still depressed and suicidal.

So, detransition in ten years, maybe less, and first suicide attempt in 3.

well back in 2015, glamour magazine named caitlyn jenner one of their women of the year like 15 min after he came out as trans (and 20 min after he killed a woman in a car accident), so this comes as no surprise.

what a joke lol.

Why does she look so old? It's got to be some other issue, right?

I first noticed it in The Umbrella Academy before she trooned out. All the actors for the siblings in the The Umbrella Academy are within 2-3 years of her but she looks 10 years older than the others. How does a short woman age the worst?

and how doctors never cared about their mental illness.
This is how they will spin it to avoid blame and say it was the evil patriarchal medical establishment all along. When I was young the narrative was that gender was a social construct and there was no biological differences between men and women, now feminists complain doctors ignored female medical issues due to the patriarchy and totally ignore that they promoted the same for like 30 years. More extreme feminists used to claim that women will one day be as fast or strong as men (due to a lack of understanding that air resistance is quadratic, i.e. going only 10% faster requires 50% more strength) but now TERFs say trannies in female sport are a patriarchal conspiracy.

Anything to stay perpetual victims. They will never stop to reflect.
