the easiest way to tell that "gender euphoria" is commonly a repackaged way to express sexual arousal is that trans men rarely discuss it, use it incorrectly or differently when they do discuss it (to mean "trans goals" more generally or looking slightly more like a bishonen), and never did even once before AGP trans women made it a meme. when trans women use it it tends to always be about when they're wearing lacey panties or can't recognize themselves in the mirror. that's the point when they openly worry on subreddits that it might be a fetish, and are promptly told it's gender euphoria, and that it's normal.

Yep. "Gender euphoria" is just code for sexual or narcissistic thrill.
They came up with the term partly to reframe it away from being a fetish (bad optics), but also because they were faced with a conundrum... It wasn't all that many years ago that troons commonly explained their condition as "being trapped in the wrong body" and suffering mental anguish because of it. People were generally sympathetic to this; it does sound horrible, after all. Plus, body dysphoria exists, so why not gender dysphoria?
But eventually the troons who were just doing it for fetish reasons (AGPs) or as a fad (transtrenders) started speaking out. "You don't need to be dysphoric to be trans!!"
They slowly drowned out the previous group - on Tumblr for example, this was seen in the conflicts between so-called Tucutes and Truescum. Nowadays, the troons who believe you need to be dysphoric to be trans are called "transmedicalists", and other troons hate them almost more than TERFs. The new Trans Orthodoxy says every troon is ~~valid~~ no matter what they identify as or whether or not they have dysphoria.
But to bring this back to the original point, a new problem arose. "If you don't need to be dysphoric, then how do you know you're trans?"
Troons were now faced with this uncomfortable question, and shrieking at people who asked wasn't much of a long-term solution. "Gender euphoria" was eventually the answer they settled on. Even if you don't feel uncomfortable in your body, you can still be a ~valid~ troon if LARPing as the opposite sex makes you "feel good".
It's a clever solution, I have to admit. Gives them an answer for how they know they're trans, and at the same time gives them a way to deflect the fetish accusations. It's all bullshit, of course.
I will say that that's bullshit because the happiness I felt when I was first called a girl (jokingly, and I was still identifying as a man at the time) was the happiest I'd felt in years. And the feeling I felt was more like in my stomach rather than how you are explaining it as a sexual gratification.

Maybe this is PL, but i'd love to see if anyone else has seen any trans in the military.
I' ve only met one trans person while serving. They were just a butch woman who I accidentally tried to stop from entering female spaces once. Politely corrected me and moved on. They had the voice of a woman and one of those pudgy, ambiguous bodies. Years later I found them on facebook as a man. I can't imagine a woman trying to transition while active duty.
Men, on the other hand, think being a woman is all about getting attention. Never had to serve with a troon but I've watched them from afar.

there are a number of troon *veterans* like the person you met, I believe, who troon out after active duty/deployment but I don't know exact numbers--I suspect they have a stake in the trans military stuff if they're in reserve or want to make sure srs is covered, etc.

It's so weird to me how some of these guys who get a sex change op apparently don't understand that castration removes sexual desire. I agree that it pushes the border of PL, but most countries have militaries and most are co-ed (though male dominated) from what I know, with small exceptions. Especially limiting to the countries that actually post here. That still leaves an absurd number of people. Hard to target anyone at that point.
I haven't seen it brought up much, but trans is still not accepted by people who actually get deployed. If the American military moves forward (again) with allowing trans to serve, I'll bring what I can to the thread. I can't wait to see how the most straight-laced Americans handle this bs in person.

I was just thinking about how fortunate it is that we don't have 21st century American males being born with a gender identity that requires them to wear clothes that aren't widely available. No genders that require them to wear clothes that haven't been invented yet, just clothes that already exist and are widely available.

They occasionally do show up, but they're just not that threatening. I remember one sad story of a TiF who was basically a swimming prodigy. She was accepted to a prestigious college on a swimming scholarship and was setting records for her speed. Then she trooned out and became a very mediocre (and for a couple years sub-mediocre) swimmer on the male swim team.
Not to get this whole IQ autism started again, but I think I know the study you're talking about and the test administrators clearly did not consider the IQ results meaningful outside the sample. The AGPs got 120 and the HSTSs got 107, but the conclusion didn't say that the AGPs had high IQ and in fact described the HSTSs as having low intelligence. The tests weren't intended to actually figure out the subjects' IQ (much less intelligence), it was to get a number so they could compare the two populations.

I feel a little bit of sympathy for troons. Yes they’re all pervs, but they largely haven’t done anything. Sexual pleasure is one of the most basic human things there is. Castration is what we do to sex offenders. And they’ve been caught up in this fetish bucket of crabs where they’ve been convinced it’s a good idea.
I’m willing to believe that there’s a certain percentage of any population of Western men that has AGP and there always will be. But not in the mass numbers we see now. They’ve been groomed. Even if they’re adults it’s still unfortunate.
