Sharkboy seems to actually look better than most other trans people in the thread. I know selective pictures etc, who knows what it's like in real life, but in the pictures I looked at. She/he/they actually look natural and ok. Not plastered with makeup. Not screaming out, "it's a man." Not looking like they've had lots of facial work. From what I've seen, she's not a bad looking female. Elevated when compared to other women on that level by not being fat. Honestly, I think if someone showed me a pic of her and was like, 'this is my single friend." I wouldn't have immediately gone, "it's a man-baby." I wouldn't have said, "she's alright."

My personal theory that I just made up is as follows:
1. Mentally ill people are not known for taking care of themselves very well. Don't clean themselves right, don't do laundry enough, bad diets and substance issues, etc. All of these contribute to things like bad skin, shitty teeth, greasy hair, all that unattractive stuff.
2. The right pair of clothes can make or break a look. 99 percent of trannies cannot pick good clothes for themselves, the ones who can tend to be FTM and go for a more 'androgynous' look. And I do personally know CIS men who look great in 'women' clothes, because they know how to dress and can pull it off. However, the 6'2" fat guy is not meant for a dress, no matter how much he grows his hair out.
3. Pills, man. You're introducing hormones that aren't meant for your body, of course you'll start to look weird.

How long until we get a tone-deaf remake of The Birdcage that completely misses the point of the original and recasts Albert as a trans-woman (Alba), Katharine as a trans-man (Killian), leaves Armand alone but has Val be in a gay relationship?
Agador, of course, will be completely written out of the film for cultural sensitivity reasons.

We're due for a film version of the musical version (La Cage aux Folles), but I can see troons rioting over the plot despite it's lighthearted family themes.

I've wondered what modern trannies think about films like La Cage / The Birdcage and Rocky Horror. La Cage was very well received from what I know from people who saw it in theaters. Dr. Frank-n-furter is much more sexual/degenerate though. I've tried to look for these things before, but I'm not too hip on the tranny movie review scene.

Fox did a tv remake of Rocky Horror a few years ago, back when networks were doing those live musical reboots. Laverne Cox was cast as Dr. Frank. There was some hubbub around the production but I can’t recall what specifically. I just remember it and Cox’s performance were widely panned.

They did a remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show recently. It really didn't need to be made, the original had flaws, sure, but it was a classic for a reason and you're not going to recapture that. But apparently they argued that this one had to be made because the original didn't have enough actual "queer people" in the cast.

I only watched half of Sword of Damocles at the time and it was horrible. It was about 4 years ago, but what I do remember was 1) the Rocky actor had shitty tattoos which completely goes against the idea of Rocky being a perfect (1950s) bodybuilder's body with youthful innocence 2) he had no charisma (even for a hunky homunculus who had been born a couple minutes ago) 3) that the acting in general was lame and better suited for a 2000s Nickelodeon live-action ad break 4) Brad didn't have the classic handsomeness that the role calls for 5) the music lacked energy.

I initially saw it while I was at my parents' house and my sister was watching it while I walked through the living room. Even she recognized that it was complete shit, but she did pretend that the fact that there were trannies in the cast made it worthwhile. After rewatching it it's even worse than I remembered, but the fact that Cox is as tall as Rocky is kind of funny. I also watched the trailer and for some reason I thought that Brad was played by a TiF; I don't think that Ryan McCartan is female, I think it's just that he's dressed like an Asher and I was already primed to look for troons in the trailer.

For what it's worth, as a straight man I really don't think that TiFs are nearly as easy to clock as TiMs. It might be because I'm a straight male, but I really think that while a TiF will never look like a normal man, there are plenty of weird looking short men with patchy beards who look like that. Weird looking women don't usually really look the same as TiMs usually do though. It's been said before, but I really think that the advantages that TiFs get to pass aren't just social but biological.
 
I remember when that newer version of Rocky came out and ignored it at the time because I wasn't into it. I'm a theatre junkie and have heard the OLC album now and grew to like the film. I genuinely thought it was a staged production they filmed - not an actual movie musical like the "Rocky Horror PICTURE Show". I'm a few years late in being disappointed, but film classics like that shouldn't ever be remade... restaging is fine, though. That's the point of putting on stage shows. I also might have put it off because I knew the main dude didn't have titties.

Sorry if I'm theatre-sperging.

Prior to covid, there was a massive amount of shows gearing up for film productions. It was starting to look like another resurgence of movie-musicals. I was and am still crossing my fingers for La Cage to be filmed. It pushes the border between drag and ~true womanhood~ though, and like I said, might be a bit of a shitshow.

There are several mentions that back when he played handball, he was not allowed in the same changerooms as other teammates and this was discriminatory. At the same time, he maintains he is sexually attracted to women, and has zero intention to medically transition.

He fully knows he is a man.

Remember, the survey-takers almost certainly counted "trans lesbians" in the lesbian column. If they controlled for cis lesbians (who weren't afraid that their answer could be revealed and come back to haunt them) the lesbian column would probably look like the straight female column. Also the straight male column probably includes butches brainwashed into becoming FtM.
