i don’t want to derail the topic but i feel compelled to clarify: the top/bottom dichotomy in the lesbian community is largely perpetuated by younger lesbians and in a broad context means “prefers giving” and “prefers receiving,” though more and more i see it being used as a substitute for dom/sub instead (i don’t know why they don’t just say dom/sub because i avoid anyone who openly labels themselves based on how they prefer to have sex on principle).

it is not the same as butch and femme, which are labels that definitely do not inherently encapsulate sexual preferences, since they only have to do with how one physically presents themselves (both dress and mannerisms). you may be confusing them with terms like “stone butch” (butch lesbian who only wants to give sexual pleasure and does not like being touched during sex) and “stone femme/pillow princess” (femme lesbian who only likes being on the receiving end and is not interested in reciprocating), which are both pretty dated terms and aren’t used very often today (stone femme/pillow princess in particular is used more as an insult if anything).

i feel like there’s an article i read once about how the use of top/bottom spread to the lesbian community through its use in slashfic, but i wouldn’t know where to find it now. whoever said lesbians are mostly more “verse” than strictly “top/bottom” is right, though. there are studies showing role preferences across lesbians of various “subgroups” tend to be pretty fluid.

Within my IRL inner circle, Rupaul's Drag Race is popular (gay people). I hate the show and think it kills my braincells, but I have still unfortunately seen enough of it to know several main players/storylines. So many of these guys show very clearly autogynophilic behaviours. Watch ANY of them on youtube. Trixie Mattel, Katya, Alyssa Edwards, Miz Cracker. That's not necessarily autogynephilia. AGP is by definition "contextless." For example, an AGP will put on women's clothes and then go off to masturbate. There's no sexual context to putting on women's clothes; that's what makes AGP contextless. Fantasizing about having sex while wearing women's clothes is still in the sexual context. The person may still be AGP but that isn't necessarily proof of it.
