Fragment the GOP base as much as possible. They want to cause a clear divide between Trump supporters and neocons so that whoever runs in 2024 will not have the full support of the GOP.

If 2020 was anything to go by, it wouldn't matter even if the GOP voter base stood strong. It was made very clear that if the candidate that wasn't approved by the uniparty is winning they will very soon be losing. Our elections are basically worthless at this point, because even if there was no fraud there was lots of extremely shady looking shit they didn't even bother to investigate properly. Not to mention the GOP really showed that they are just Democrats with a masochism fetish so they can get yelled at, they don't deserve anyone's votes.

If Trump does start a new political party for a 2024 run, or a prominent Conservative figure does in support of Trump's ideals, the GOP is done. Not in that they'll be completely destroyed, but rather that they will know that unless they take on the populist and isolationist message Trump had they will lose their most active voter base. They'll get the boomer vote sure, but lots of the younger conservative zoomers and non-cucked millennials are 100% behind another Trump-esque candidate rather than whatever version of Mitt Romney the GOP/DNC will want to run.

The Democrats are far more concerned with consolidating their political power and removing their enemies, as we see from the impeachment trial. I don't think they ever intended to deliver on their promises, it was nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to bribe voters. Of course, Dems will not learn from this and I'm sure we will see another promise of a direct stimulus check around the midterms that will also not materialize or will be much smaller than promised.
