Eh, what the hell, I'll go ahead and say it: trans kids absolutely should not exist and any parent who allows their child to go on puberty blockers should be charged with neglect and child endangerment, then have their child removed from their custody. Any doctor who prescribes PBs to minors should have their license to practice revoked. If someone 18 or older decides they're really the opposite gender than the one they were born, then whatever. As long as they aren't hurting anyone then they're free to fuck up their body any way they want and live with the consequences. But children do not have the knowledge, wisdom, or life experience to make such drastic and life altering decisions as chemically and medically tinkering with their bodies. It's ethically and morally wrong to allow it. Shit, most kids can't even decide on what they want to do with their lives when they reach adulthood. And kids are easily swayed by suggestion, peer pressure, and cultural fads. If a child says "I don't feel like I'm really my birth gender" then they need to be taken to therapy to learn how to understand and cope with those feelings until they're adults and be given love and support from their family until they're old enough to make a rational and educated decision about it. Not puberty blockers. People like Louie who think children should be allowed the autonomy to make important, life changing medical decisions like that disgust me. They'll prop themselves up as champions and defenders of "marginalized children", but then duck out of accepting any responsibility for the damage they've caused when those children's lives are ruined because they weren't really transgender and just wanted to be part of something they viewed as popular to gain acceptance or attention, and now their bodies are fucked up beyond repair and they now have to cope with the physical, emotional, and psychological fallout of that decision. Children shouldn't have to face those kind of lifelong consequences for a stupid mistake they made because they didn't know any better. What kind of cruel, sick-fuck monster would be willing to allow that to happen to even one child?

If we’re being scientific and logical instead of MATI and seething, puberty blockers are intended to be used when a teenager still undergoing puberty is diagnosed with genuine psychologically harmful gender dysphoria, and they simply do as the name suggests: put puberty on hold. It’s not forced HRT or actually physically harmful if done correctly, and the effects are 100% reversible if the teen decides in the future they got over dysphoria or that the diagnosis was wrong to begin with because puberty is fucky like that, and simply stopping taking them at any point and the body quickly begins making up for lost time. Banning puberty blockers entirely in all circumstances can result in further harm to the person who actually needed them because once puberty is finished, the effects are irreversible and adult HRT has far less effect. All those transsexuals people see that nobody would ever guess unless they told you they were and who have adjusted perfectly are typically those that underwent puberty blockers in their early/mid teens after a gender dysphoria diagnosis.

So it’s one of those things that sounds a lot worse than it is, has a lot of misconceptions around it, and can do genuine good for people that actually need it, but a bunch of agenda-pushing autists are insisting that it be misused and want the power to force it on their kids to grandstand and look “woke”. I, like yourself, have no problem at all with proper transsexuals. I've had both pre and post-op friends in the past, and helped a couple of MTF people who were just starting to come out with skincare, plucking eyebrows, make-up, buying clothes and all that jazz (ex beauty therapist). Only one of those turned out to be a wrongun.
My niece is now calling herself my nephew (she's not, she's a butch lesbian, which we figured out a long time before she did, it was obvious at around age 11/12. She's also got a touch of the 'tism. Thank fuck that she's not gone down the drug or surgery route tho. Yet, anyway). So I like to think that I know a fair bit about the subject.
There is no way on gods green earth that I will ever believe that it's right or safe to give a developing child drugs to halt their bodies natural puberty. Or that they can just bounce back from it if they decide it's not for them after a minimum of a year, like they never took them in the first place. A couple of months, they might get away with it. Your body doesn't stop changing and maturing until your mid 20s anyway...maybe after 20, I can see that it would be a fair bit more difficult to switch, but to advocate giving such powerful drugs to 11/12yr old...fuck no.

i’m afraid i need help understanding the scientific utility of giving lupron to a developing person given the demonstrated negative effects on bone density. this is a genuine question.
 
I don't care for this thread to fall into the same trappings of every other thread on a person who claims they're trans, devolving into people arguing about the legitimacy of transgenderism and gender dysphoria as a diagnosis. This discussion has been done ad infinitum and there's nothing to gain from engaging in it once again.

It's just that the label "puberty blockers" is already misleading and presents the drug in a much more positive and harmless light than it deserves. The drugs commonly used to influence pubertal growth are GnRH agonists, which are intended to stop your sex hormones from taking full effect. But since testosterone and estrogen are not the only hormones influencing your puberty it will lead to an uneven growth, and thus, health issues. Bone density was already mentioned, but it can also have an effect on depression, fatigue, and of course your reproductive system, among other things (which I kinda have first hand experience with due to my history). Some of these will more or less quickly balance out again, with a fully functioning system, but stuff like osteopenia or osteoporosis haunts you for a while, if it bounces back at all. Also, as far as I heard, the "all effects are 100% reversible" rhetoric stems from looking at actual kids with a precocious puberty, where they stopped taking the drugs at a relatively early age, not from trans kids, who'd continue to take these drugs for a few years more and at a different age, usually. The idea that it might stunt development of the brain in a critical phase of their growth, might be contested since we only really have animal test subjects to compare, I think, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hold any truth at all. All in all, it's meddling with nature in a harmful way and testing the effects of it on kids really shouldn't be encouraged, imo.

Does that suck for actual trans kids? Of course. So many trans people would die for the chance to relive their puberty like this, just to avoid developing some secondary sex characteristics. It's just also that a lot of them don't know what growing up with blockers would be like either. Not that I claim to know everything, I don't study medicine or anything like that, and even if, the effects of the drug in a scope like this are still something that's being actively investigated, so-

Putting on clothes of the opposite sex to explore how you feel about certain stuff is much less dangerous. So are superficial surgeries later on to remove the effects puberty had on you. No need to dig into GRS now, but stuff like rhinoplasty is comparatively easy done and doesn't require anyone to screw up their body chemistry for years before. I personally support people exploring themselves, and that does include trans kids and teens, but for me it does stop at a point like this, where the help could potentially do more harm than good.

Ah now see I didn’t know about it fucking with bones, if that’s the case then yeah, keep them away from kids regardless of circumstance unless they can offer a way to also counter the affects on bone density. The more you know.

And yeah wasn’t trying to pull it in to a transsexual in general discussion, I just like being informed or informing to the best of my ability so that when Lou starts shooting shit people on the thread can know where his line of thought is from if any exists at all to better deconstruct and mock him for spewing shit he doesn’t know anything about.

I had the thought: Why is it that when its Christianity or any spiritual religion, he labels it as a mental illness in a negative light and puts it on par with schizophrenia? Is he saying that having a belief system to better one's life is on par with craziness? I think about this question even with people like Moviebob who can't help but tip their fedora's at lightspeed with topics like religion.

NGL i just had my eyes checked a month or so ago because I needed new glasses and the optometrist told me that most people when they don't get their eyes checked after their diagnosed end up visually fucked within a few years. The fact that he probably stares at a bright as fuck screen because he seems like the type to put his devices on max brightness (and then wonder why they don't hold a charge) in a barely lit room. That'll fuck him over just as fast tbh.

For those who truly can't get enough, there is the social media sideshow thread and a deep thoughts thread ostensibly devoted to being serious onto the topic wherein the discussion will get you more info and more informed perspectives, generally. Takes a little while to find some of the studies and analysis, but you'd be surprised at what autists on the internet can compile.
Addendum: oh, the deep thoughts thread is where all the assblasted politispergs went to after their hugbox got disrupted so they could pontificate from on high. Maybe stick to the sideshow thread instead.
