I personally consider troonism to have inherently conservative aspects based on embracing strict gender roles. With that said, how can you identify as a trans lesbian and openly consider yourself politically conservative?

If there's anything I can say about both sides is that their "gender is a social construct" mantra makes absolutely no sense to me. How is gender a social construct when most people have their sex and gender linked. It looses credibility for me when we see other animals performing roles such as hunting for males and mothering for females when humans have done it for hundreds of years. However, if a guy wants to be feminine and a gal wants to be masculine, there's nothing wrong with that and it doesn't make them weird. It's just a minority of people though.

The difference is that radfems think that gender is based on real, objective characteristics and that it reinforces harmful behavior and ideas. It's a social construct in its enforcement, not in the natural differences between males and females (but that these differences end up being exaggerated due to gender roles).
Gender-ideologists believe that it's a social construct in its construction and that gender is still a super important thing that needs to be embraced, but the difference between men and women is not their sex (to a greater or lesser extent. Most gender-ideologists still acknowledge sex as being strongly linked to gender and some have tried to claim that somehow sex is determined by gender. I'm genuinely unsure how they distinguish gender from any other social category if it's not sex-based, but judging by all the xenogenders based on liking Undertale and shit, they aren't sure either) but a part of their mind/soul that can't be objectively identified yet beyond the person's feelings.

Uh, maybe you feel trapped and unhappy as a woman because of the societal expectations placed on them? The one Twitter user flat out admits she hates being told how to be a girl. In the past girls banded together to speak out on abolishing gender roles and teach that there’s no one right way to be a woman. You can do whatever you want and still be a woman because... well, you are one.
Now we’ve gone fucking backwards with people who don’t like the idea of having their behavior pigeonholed and restricted getting told that maybe they aren’t their gender then! If you are a girl who doesn’t apply lots of makeup and love princess dresses then I guess you aren’t a boring old girl! You’re outside the binary!
They’ve gotten so woke they looped back around to strictly enforcing gender roles and making people hate being female instead of rightly telling others who police their actions to fuck off. Rate me MOTI but I’m sad to see other girls hate their gender because they have some old fashioned idea of what it means to be one.

Interestingly the exact opposite thing happened on a tweet by the Vagina Museum of all places. They posted about the protests using the phrase 'People with Vaginas' and were absolutely reamed by TERFs in the comments. Cue mass deletion of comments, doubling down, comments switched off. At a vagina museum. Can't make this shit up. Please note- the word 'women' is used elsewhere on their twitter, so why they felt the need to die on this hill is anybody's guess.

This went down last evening. I wish I'd screencapped while it was hot since there were a lot of people having comments deleted in real time and immediately reposting pointing out the censorship. Note- Aleksandra Karpowicz (the woman in the @, an activist) made an appearance to state that she didn't approve of the phrase 'people with vaginas'. Also note- the hashtag includes the polish word for 'Woman'.

This creature managed to muscle his way onto Ologies, a podcast in which scientists and other -ologists talk about their field of study. It used to be a perfectly swell show, before the host started scrambling to appeal to woke Twitter, which most of her guests hail from these days.

I still listen to it sometimes, but I couldn’t get halfway through the episode with Pfau. The episode with him in it marks a change in the show's general style, and I'm sad to report that the quality has suffered greatly because of it.

1. Personality of interviewees has historically played a large role in this show, but Pfau is easily one of the most charmless guests to date. This also includes the nutjob that puts crystals in her bra for good luck from one of the earlier episodes.
2. Telling the audience about how you ended up studying an ology is part of the course, but Pfau spent forever just talking about himself. He drones on and on and on about his miserable childhood, his gender and various mental health issues. The host, which usually does a good job editing episodes, just… didn’t cut any of it for some reason. Probably because she’s terrified of offending the transgenders.
3. The host does little asides to explain certain concepts that they don’t get to during the interviews. On intersex/DSD she had this to say:

There's ‘Gender Expression’: which is feminine, masculine, or other. There's ‘Sex Assigned at Birth’, that is like a DNA strand [raised voice] over the crotch area, and it's female, male or other/intersex.
[…] And intersex, just in case you're not sure, according to GLAAD, those are people born with reproductive or sexual anatomy and/or chromosome patterns that can't be classified typically as male or female. Because biologically there's more than two outcomes there. Nature is amazing!

It's usually safe to pick any one episode. Most of the guests, especially from older episodes, are really cool and immediately makes me want to pick up a new field of study. Here are some of my personal favourites—

• Myrmecology (ants)
• Ludology (video games)
• Mycology (fungi)
• Chiropterology (bats)
• Biogerontology (aging)
• Somnology (sleep)
• Ichtyology (fishes)
• Cnidariology (corals) (an example of a trans person who isn’t insufferable)
• Thermophysiology (body heat) (an example of an interviewee who talks about mental issues without derailing everything)

As not to get completely off topic. This desperation to appease wokescolds among otherwise rational, science-y people is something I've noticed popping up with increased frequency. One of my favourite medical shows is This Podcast Will Kill You, featuring two epidemiologists talking about the biology and history of disease and epidemics.

They get a lot of flac for getting political with regards to history and medical ethics, but I think this is an important part of medical history, and shouldn't be left out. However, listening to a medical doctor working in obstretics awkwardly forcing herself to say "people with a uterus" and "people who menstruate" instead of the perfectly adequate term "female" in the episode on hormonal contraception, made me feel really sorry for them. The fact that the other host didn't follow up with this use of language later in the episode only made it more apparent.
