DENVER — One person was killed and two people are in custody on Saturday after gunfire erupted near an area where protests between opposing groups in downtown Denver were occurring, authorities said.

The shooting occurred in the courtyard of the Denver Art Museum, KCNC reported.

A man participating in a “Patriot Rally,” which also included self-described Black Lives Matter-antifa protesters, sprayed mace at another man, according to the Denver Post. The man sprayed by mace then shot the first protester with a handgun, the newspaper reported.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead, KCNC reported.

One of the two persons taken into custody was not involved in the shooting, according to the Denver Police Department.

According to a later tweet from police, “further investigation has determined the (other) suspect is a private security guard with no affiliation with antifa.”

Officials said more information will be released “as it becomes available.”

The Patriot Rally was scheduled for 2 p.m. local time, KUSA reported. The counter protest, called a “BLM-Antifa Soup Drive,” began 30 minutes earlier at Civic Center Park, which is located next to the state Capitol, the television station reported.

Police, who earlier fired what appeared to be pepper balls at the leftist protest group, said they were working on a homicide investigation, the Post reported.

Several Denver police officers in riot gear were on the scene when the shooting occurred, KMGH reported. Witnesses said the victim was shot at point-blank range, the television station reported.

The Denver Police Department did not provide specifics about the shooting but released a statement.

“The Denver Police Department respects the right to peacefully assemble,” the statement read. “Those who participate in protests, demonstrations, marches, or other gatherings, as protected by the First Amendment, are reminded to do so in a lawful manner. Individuals who choose to act outside of local, state and federal law, will be subject to citation or arrest.”

Media is in full damage control, the shooter was a "random security guard" who attacked in "self defence" after being maced and is not affiliated with Antifa because Antifa does not exist and is just an idea.

Also Twitter celebrating the kill.

He looks a little too flabby, out of shape and faggy for a security guard.

In the pictures posted, that looks like one of those "tactical shirts". They're designed to be looser and stay untucked, making it easier to conceal and draw a handgun.

It looks "pushed out" while he's standing with the gun, but you can see it bunched up loosely in the front when he's kneeling.

Current excuse is currently that a channel 9News security guard is the killer. Of course there were no channel 9News team at the site of the shooting, so we'll have to just speculate why a security guard decided it was a good idea to involve himself in that situation and shoot a man, the news and police department though are very adamant that there were no political motive

The security guard had a rear mounted reflex sight on their handgun. I don't know about all security companies but I don't think most pay enough to allow their employees to carry a pistol with an rmr.

Not everyone who does security work does security full-time; many of them use it as a side gig. Especially for easy shit where the sole requirement is "must have guard card."

NLG's take on the events:

So far it's looking like it was a hired Pinkerton, but we'll see.
Honestly, it's hard for me to imagine that a security company would sign off on having an armed guard working plainclothed and in a chaotic environment like that. That would be just asking to have your guy have to use deadly force in a legitimate capacity, and then them getting shot by the police because they think it's an active shooter situation. It seems a lot more likely to me that he was hired personally and working off the books.

Yet Kenosha Kyle is still considered mini-Hitler in these peoples eyes just for defending himself.

It's astounding how blatant their double standards are.

>Cops shoot a guy charging them with a fucking knife
ZOMG murdering bastards they could have just tazed him or shot him in the leg. ACAB etc etc

>Rando shoots someone spraying him with a bit of bear mace (something Antifa really, really like to fucking do to people btw)
HAHA fucked around and found out, got what he deserved, nazis BTFO

Really activates the almonds
We can bitch and whine but according to the FBI its perfectly fine

I also found it odd that a photographer wearing very hi-viz stuff, using a mighty nice camera, was Jonny on the spot.... almost waiting for the Vietcong Execution pic, like he knew it was going to happen (one way or another).

Nah, the Springfield Hellcat with included RMR area about the same price as a comparable Glock without; around $450 when I last saw them actually in stock. It's the competing SIG that's pricey.

This is the sort of policing Antifa wants after they get their wish of abolishing the police. Same as the community not-policing in CHAZ who sure love beating "intruders" and shooting at unarmed people.

I suppose people are so accustomed to the complete disdain for professionalism that permeates modern media that a photographer doing what photographers used to do (get right into situations to get shots) is a totally foreign concept now.

Ok so according to these guys here https://wolflawcolorado.com/difference-assault-self-defense/
In Colorado you can-
  • Defend a person (yourself or another person) from physical force; however, the use of deadly force is only allowed if it appears the attacker may seriously assault, kidnap, or sexually assault the person.
So the two questions in my mind (outside of the shooter's possible affiliations) are whether the shooter was in legitimate fear of serious assault from the slap + mace, and whether a slap + mace can be considered indicative of a serious assault on the way under Colorado law. is there evidence of a threat made on either side? That would be instant make or break here.

Idk how this will go or how to classify it. Compared to the gold standard of defensive shooting that was saint Kyle, this is way dirtier.

NBC affiliate 9News sent out one dude with a cell phone+security to report on this event? I guess I could maybe see it... phones make decent cameras nowadays and it would draw less attention than a dedicated camera. Still seems weird.

Also, this streamer refers to Mr. Blue Shirt "producer" as "family." Streamer screams at cop "Badge number, BITCH!" and at 2:10:14 someone tells streamer "get this chud with no mask on" and streamer replies "which chud?" So take that as you will.

This tweet links to some streams from today if anyone feels like digging.

Nah Reinhoel was the antifags "security". It's been claimed the shooter was a Pinkerton; if so, he's the most soy looking Pinkerton I've ever seen.
If they sent me out with that guy, I'd ask for a different one.
Ok, damn it. I think I have it all pieced together now. Unpopular opinion time. Looks to me like soy security got between boonie hat boomer (who just got out of a confrontation with BGM guy that was broken up) and the guy he was supposed to protect, the TV producer, blue shirt guy. This move drove boonie hat to smack him while he carried a can of bear mace in his other hand.

He fucked around and found out. Clean shoot.
