In a situation like that, the police will just arrest the guy, get him out of there, and sort it out later. That's the fastest way to calm things down.

To clarify, I don't think this is necessarily right, but it's what your average cop will do in the moment to reduce the likelihood that someone gets shot in a chaotic situation.

What's absolutely great about this clip is the pure glee and joy Kamala has for these violent riots that Colbert is clearly aware of how violent they are. It's slowly dawning on him that he will be eaten and he can't even be comfortable in thinking he'll be eaten last.


He clearly is aware of the violent riot side of these protests but still is playing the spin game and calling them protests. I bet he was about to pitch her a soft ball to denounce the violence but couldn't due to her response. Love it.
