The way I see it, we have more pressing issues to deal with. We have a super volcano in America that could blow at any moment that could cause societal collapse. The earth is beginning to run out of fresh useable water. There are children dying in third world countries that desperately need our help.

Until I see a cow solving some of the world's problems, I will only see it as a delicious burger.

After knowing what Newkirk really is about, this picture frightens me.

Because I have a feeling she isn't hugging him...

All of this information about PETA & its high-kill shelters has made me utterly upset. (:_(

I wish I could adopt that precious dog so it won't be killed needlessly. :(

As an ASPCA volunteer, I feel horrible for all the animals PETA has shamelessly killed.

The argument generally goes that many of these animals would adapt to their pre-domestic lifestyle - to a certain extent they probably would. Longhorn Cattle and Wild Boar are great examples of what natural selection and life without humans can ultimately produce, that still says nothing for certain other types of animals and even among those who could adapt the overwhelming numbers that would die. It also gives no consideration to how dangerous some of these animals (Wild Boar) can be and how destructive they are in general; they're notorious for tearing up property, killing other animals, and are a danger to any unarmed humans who might wander to close to them.

Hopefully nothing I said implies I'm a Vegan or Vegan sympathizer, proud Bloodmouth here.

Natural selection is not kind. If animals had human intellengce, all of them would elect to die by an air powered nail gun to the head than painful infections, disease, or being brutally mauled and eaten alive by predators. Have these people ever watched a documentary in their lives?

Notice how vegans don't complain about the death of insects?

It's because insects eat all their food.

FTFY. I doubt most vegans actually know anything about the harvesting process involved in creating their (or anyone else) food.

I'm curious; has anybody in contact with a vegan or who has observed vegans/PETA/etc arguing over meat ever seen a coherent answer to the question 'what would we do with all our domestic animals if we stopped eating their products'?

If I were involved with that family, I would have driven out to PETA's local shelter or wherever and made a show of crushing and dismantling the fruits, and then destroying the basket, followed by eating a bacon and beef sandwich.

PETA is insane. Not even I would think to kill someone's dog and then drive back to give them a fruit basket to remind them of it. That speaks of a degraded mental state, specifically related to association. They apparently believe death is cause for celebration.

As shown in that article earlier, under the surface of animal rights, PETA is fundamentally a group of crazy nihilists.

Normally I can't stand people who purposely eat meat in front of vegans/vegetarians for the sole purpose of pissing them off... except in this case, because fuck PETA. Fuck it with a chainsaw. I'd eat a double cheeseburger while setting their lame fucking fruit basket on fire with a blowtorch if they murdered my dog.

It honestly astounds me how PETA still manages to get millions of dollars in yearly funding/donations and all these celebrity endorsements despite there being a list of their transgressions that's at least five miles long. Honestly, if someone still supports PETA because they don't know about how disgusting the entire organization really is, then they're still culpable. Before donating to a charity or some other kind of organization, the first thing you should always do is do some research to see if its legit or if your money is better off elsewhere. There have been hundreds- no, thousands- of articles, webpages, and other sources that have exposed PETA's insanely high shelter kill rate (seriously, can we not call PETA shelters "shelters?" They're slaughterhouses), back-asswards policies and ideals, misuse of funding, criminal activity... the list goes on and on. PETA doesn't do anything praiseworthy, and yet they're still shilled as an animal rights group and get people to support them.

If you ever run into anyone who has a positive view of PETA, please rectify it. There are so many more animal rights/welfare organizations that deserve recognition instead of these sociopaths.

Yeah let's just say if PETA stole and killed my cat I'd do something that would end with me in jail pretty quickly.

Especially if they had the fucking gall to send me a goddamn fruit basket afterward.

Something tells me that when Ingrid Newkirk dies, she'll become some kind of doggy Freddy Krueger.

Will do - I got the opportunity to ask some PETA members why they have a positive view of the group, and the answer affirmed what I observed. Quote; "The world is full of unjust suffering, and its PETA's job to reduce the amount of that suffering."

I asked if that justified the high kill shelters, and the response? The most sociopathic thing I've ever heard from a person who I've observed to be very proud of their "empathy".

"If death relieves suffering, I'm okay with as many dying as necessary." When has that ever been said if not by a serial killer?

Don't go into their basement.

It's a perversion of the utilitarian philosophy taken to a degree that it becomes indistinguishable from nihilism.

I'd read an article on that subject. Essentially, Ingrid Newkirk adopted a utilitarian philosophy after watching a dog brought in be near immediately put down, when she was young.

Somehow, she has herself began doing the same exact thing. Because as you say, her utilitarian philosophy perverted into utter nihilism.

A pig is a dog is a boy, as she is fond of saying. She loves all life the same, and in such a way, all life is equally worthless to her. Because the greatest gift Ingrid figures she could deliver is a reprieve from suffering.

I didn't think I could find someone more in love with death than Marvel's Thanos. I was wrong. I was so horribly wrong.
