According to this video, the "woman" we've been applauding is actually a dude, and was sort of the instigator inside the store. They also didn't stick around after the shooting, and are now being sought by the cops.

The ending is still happy, but story-arc is pretty grey. The video does a good job of breaking it down.
 
At least now if they wanted to do another remake of Maniac they can film on location and get a similar feel to the original in grittiness. I know people talk about one of the reasons they swapped locations to LA in the 2012 one was because NY had lost the seedy feel of the 80s, but filmmakers can breathe a sigh of relief to know that those in power are working tirelessly to up the appeal of NY for crime/horror/urban decay films.

Literally everyone I know saw that grainy-ass shakycam cell phone video and went straight to "it was obvious daylight premeditated murder, execute all four of them". It's all I heard for weeks. They were convinced that this cop was just so evil and so racist that he was willing to commit murder on camera just for the chance to kill a black man. That was, no joke, the prevailing theory. That his heart was simply so full of malice that he couldn't help but calmly choose to do something he knew would get him murdered in prison.

At this point almost all of them are still buying the Evil For No Reason theory, but they're having a harder time justifying it. What was once "just look at the video dude!" has now become "um well yes they were dealing with a psychotic drugged-out freak but that doesn't excuse them being big meanies". What was once "Chauvin was obviously crushing his throat with his MIGHTY KNEE" has become "laying on the ground is somehow lethal, which the cops should have known". What was once "Chauvin knowingly used one of The Forbidden Arts just to slay a future doctor" is now "yes the department says applying pressure with a knee is okay but that's just because they don't listen to Science™".

I fully expect that come verdict time they're all going to be claiming that they never said anything concrete and were waiting for the facts to come out like the ever-rational beings of pure intellect they are, and if you show them proof to the contrary then you are blocked, son.

They claim this shit and most of them have never themselves had to face that shit. I have, though. And I still refused them permission to do what they wanted, demanded probable cause, and they ended up absolutely unable to do shit. Getting swatted isn't fun.

Their primary problem is that whenever a police officer is involved, they can't shut the fuck up. They don't understand that running your mouth will only make things worse. Either you'll piss the guy off and do nothing productive, or you'll give him information he can later use to hang your ass in court. The best solution is a happy medium. Short, calm answers but don't say more than necessary, if they want to search your place ask if they have a warrant, if they don't, tell them to get lost or go get one.

The balanced solution is to not have the standard Black Response to police: Jumping out of the car in a frantic rage, arms swinging "NIGGA WHY IS YOU PULLIN' ME OVER COME ON MANG I DINT DO NUFFIN WHAT'S YO BADGE NUMBUH GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE CUH NAW I AIN'T ANSWERIN' NO QUESTIONS BOSS YOU AXIN ME STUPID SHEEEIT"

Somewhere in the middle will produce the best result for all parties involved. Admittedly swatting requires a bit more of the last type of response, because those guys come into a situation with adrenaline pumping and unless you tell them no they're going to do whatever the fuck they want and tear your house up. Plus black people tend to break the cardinal rule of committing multiple crimes at once. If you have a tail light out or you're going to speed, maybe don't also drive drunk, have a gun in your waistband or have crack on you. That's where they run into problems. A simple tail light stop can turn into a multiple hour ordeal as they take your fucking car apart.

In my federal Circuit calling emergency services is probable cause for warrentless entry, granted the case was about some one who lived in the house called, but given how Swatting is, the complainant could claim you are holding them hostage.

Mostly because progs hide behind it, and in the US have made every effort to make 'liberal' synonymous with 'progressive.' Yuropoors have had the sense to logically separate out these two ideals, which are largely at odds with one another. Conservatives don't really have a reason to differentiate between the two, so why should they care?

Now, you might still dislike that European notion of liberalism, because globalism and free movement of jobs people and money, so-on, but it's safe to say that it's a very different beast from progressives. It's something of an irony that the US, whose style of capitalism perhaps most appeals to the ULTRA-LIBERALS, is functionally finding no room in its political vernacular or body politic alike for that old free-speech, free-trade, human-rights approach.
