She's pretty much shooting herself in the foot by claiming that mothers handling sons differently is an "unconscious act", isn't she? That implies that there's something intrinsic to women that makes them handle boys differently, or that boys behave in a way that prompts a different response. If she can allow for one unconscious, ingrained response based on sex differences she can't very well slam the door shut at some arbitrary point where it suits her narrative.
