It's projection, like just about every other bullshit accusation the trans movement throws out. They have institutional power, they oppress women with the societal power they have, but if they admit any of that, the game will be up and people will find out that they've been had by a bunch of privileged white guys who watched too much porn. So they project their institutional power and the privilege they have onto a fringe group too small and disorganized to actually fight them so that they can point to them and go "those are the ones, those are the evil oppressors who have all this institutional power to destroy us!" Everything they accuse "TERFs" of are things they actually do - "they erase trans people" = "we erase women", "they want us dead" = "we want to kill women", etc.

Remember, no troon has ever lost his job or livelihood for threatening to rape and murder women who disagree with him, but plenty of so-called "TERFs" have lost their livelihoods and even been doxxed and assaulted for daring to utter the absolute bone-deep fact "men can't be women". If you have working eyes, it's simple to see which group here has institutional power and privilege, and which group doesn't.

This a pretty common tactic I've noticed a lot of leftists in general like to use. They'll always find the most extreme examples to justify whatever they're trying to push. So like you said with trans, they'll argue you can't create any kind of definition for "woman" because of some super rare genetic disorder. Nevermind that 99% of trannies don't have anything like that, they'll still use it to "defeat" your argument.

I first noticed it with pro-abortion activists who said there needed to be unlimited access to government-funded abortions-on-demand because what if a 13 year old is a victim of incest-rape and gets pregnant? If there's a name for this kind of bullshit I'd like to know it.

I wonder if they realize that by shutting down these online meeting spaces and thus preventing themselves from being able to identify their terven enemies they actually make these born women who're sick of shit far more dangerous. When you silence people you radicalize them. History is rife with those who become more endeared to a cause when pushy assholes try to take away their ability to support it. Their victories on the internet are nothing at the end of the day. Women's suffrage happened before the internet so if they think by shutting down online communities they've had a victory they're dead wrong because instead of complaining about it on the internet now with that doing very little for their cause, the women who're truly angry will begin to meet in a offline context and their voices and anger will grow. The louder those voices grow the more followers they gain and troons do nothing to help themselves.

While I agree with some of their content any time I browsed a thread in there it'd often devolve into this thinly veiled women superior-men bad rhetoric that would turn me off from the subreddit. There's no way they're going to get more natal women on board with their cause when they're on the constant man hating train because a lot of the fence sitters or people who don't give a shit at this point are heterosexual women who don't want to hear someone talk about how because X man did a bad thing and was a typical male means all men who follow traditional male roles ( their husbands and boyfriends) are bad.

Now that I think about it, they may have done transphobes a favor, because I got turned off the gc group pretty fast by all the man hating bs. They had plenty of good conversation too but that was just too much. So that particular group isn't there to look like morons anymore. GC is unable to reconcile with the reality that women can be a victim of abuse and also a willing participant in abuse. With all due respect, I think there's also a serious problem where people (especially men) have a tendency to read anything women write about the overwhelming amount of oppression and abuse women suffer in (both current and historical) society at the hands of men as "man-hating" or somehow a personal attack on every man on the planet, which is an unfair presumption on the part of the reader and completely misses the point of these discussions and complaints.

I didn't follow GC very closely, though I did browse some, and most of what I saw that has been labeled as "man-hating" or "female superiority" was just women discussing how the overwhelming majority of rapists and murderers of women, as well as domestic abusers are men and how that fact impacts women and women's freedom in society. And that is typically the kind of discussion that gets labeled "man-hating" in our society, because heaven forbid anyone talk about the impact of male violence on women.

Maybe I'm wrong and I missed something big on GC, but frankly "man-hating" when referring to feminists is such a massive dogwhistle at this point that I can't take that on faith.
