Let me make it clear I doubt it could ever be a cashcow. I'd say think of Something Awful as a rundown classic car. Classic cars are money holes but they can be valuable.

If I were one of those Chapo Trap House guys I'd give Lowtax an offer. Further strengthening your cult of personality is in the best interest of those guys. Frankly all the left wing celebrities could enjoy power by having the goon cult on your side forever for saving their hangout. The big players of Breadtube specifically Contrapoints would quite possibly have fun with Something Awful.

Again it's just speculation from an autistic gaucho who knows little. My point is it's not out of the realm of possibility for SA to have a new owner. Especially when you remember the paypigs would come back to support it. But that's only if Lowtax steps down.

I looked back through the thread to find the post where she posts the card from the detective with a court date written on it, and the ER home instructions for "physical assault". I know I didn't hallucinate that, but I can't find the post. Maybe it was deleted or maybe I am exceptional.

The author of Why Does He Do That says that the main emotion victims have upon leaving is confusion. Richard is saying stuff that makes her confused about what happened, he has had years of practice to know exactly what will drive someone insane. it fucks with people who aren't mentally ill to start with so she is going to feel this way for awhile. Then she will get mad, and have to integrate this experience into her identity and her world view. It is a shitty thing but that's what she has to look forward to right now.

I think she is just 26 and doesn't know god damn anything yet like everyone else when they are young. Maybe she should have a little more of a clue at her age but it is pretty normal to make a huge mistake somewhere in your 20s.
 
I'm really starting to suspect that this whole Logan Day thing was a lot more than a strictly professional business relationship with the explicit intention of turning the SomethingAwful brand back into a household name and money printing workhorse. I can't believe all of the upstanding people involved lied to us. This is a most cruel and unfortunate turn of circumstances and I firmly believe we are all the true victims of this ruse.

There's usually an exception in those laws, either in the statute itself or court-created, for self-protection or collecting evidence. It could be that even if you could legitimately record something to use to exonerate yourself, though, that it would be illegal to use it for any other purpose.
 
This is the recording Lowtax will be playing on Dick's podcast. It is nearly 15 minutes of two deeply broken human beings having a sad, drunk, high, mentally ill fight. Lowtax, of course, looks all the worse, given that he's mid-40's, twice divorced and has three kids whereas Logan is a deeply mentally ill zoomer 1000 miles from home being threatened with being turned out on the street if she doesn't tell the police she was lying when she said Lowtax beat her. He is clearly trying to coerce and guide a crazy person in the throes of a meltdown (and likely booze/drugs) into saying she gave a false statement.

This is some gross fucking shit and I have no idea how in the fuck he thinks illegally (right? two party consent state?) recording this... mess... is going to exonerate him.

Provided to me by a friend of a friend of an admin, to whom Lowtax sent it to "prove" that he didn't beat Logan. Have fun dissecting it, fellow Kiwis and remember, in the words of Lowtax on an Ambien/boxwine bender 10 seconds into the clip himself: "wHo gIVeS a ShIt aBoUT kiWiFarMs".

Yeah this makes Lowtax sound awful and so far just sounds like he's emotionally abusing her to get her to say what he wants. She initially is telling her truth, but he keeps insulting and gaslighting (I hate that word) her until she changes her story. The part where she changes her story and starts saying that didn't hit her and he starts coaching her in detail is especially bad. She keeps repeating what he is telling her happened.

I mean yeah, she seems like a drunk, but still...

Yeah, she's definitely confused and he's definitely an abuser who took advantage of her. All I mean is that by the very definition of her disorder she's emotionally unstable so her reactions aren't what most people would consider to be normal. It's an absolute shit of a mental illness to deal with, both for her and for those around her. It might not even be possible for her to integrate this into her personality. It sucks and he should have left her the fuck alone.

I'm going to shut up now though. This is just fucking sad.

Was the detective name from Ashli’s reports Erika Nash? I feel like it’s more likely a different detective but just the fact she said “she” what proportion of detectives are female?
