Rayshard Brooks, 27, who had fallen asleep in his vehicle, failed a sobriety test, officials said. He was shot after a struggle over a Taser he grabbed from an officer, the authorities said.

An Atlanta man died after being shot by the police who found him asleep at a Wendy’s drive-through on Friday night, the authorities said.
The man, who was identified as Rayshard Brooks, 27, of Atlanta, had fallen asleep in his vehicle, causing other customers to drive around him, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
Mr. Brooks struggled with the police officers after he failed a sobriety test, the authorities said. As he was being arrested, he resisted and witnesses reported that Mr. Brooks grabbed and was in possession of a Taser that had been deployed by the police.
He was shot during the struggle, the bureau said, though a bystander’s video shared on social media showed the struggle between Mr. Brooks and officers, and appeared to show him running away when the police opened fire.
Mr. Brooks was taken to a hospital where he died after surgery. One officer was treated for an injury during the episode and was later released.
The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said it was conducting its own investigation into the shooting, separate from the bureau’s.
“Our thoughts and our sympathies are extended to the family of Rayshard Brooks as we must not forget that this investigation is centered upon a loss of life,” the district attorney, Paul L. Howard Jr., said in a statement.
State and local officials spoke out about the shooting.
The Rev. James Woodall, the state president of the N.A.A.C.P., said on Saturday of Mr. Brooks, “there was nothing that he did that was deserving of death.”
“Our overall message is that we are done dying,” the reverend said. “We are done waking up at 1 or 2 in the morning to another murder or yet another case of police brutality.”
Former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said on Twitter that the killing of Mr. Brooks “demands we severely restrict the use of deadly force.” She added, “sleeping in a drive-thru must not end in death.”

I'd love to know what this two-bit race hustler thinks the cops had ought to do when the guy is in possession of a weapon he stole from the police in the first place. This whole situation sounds like an absolutely clean nigger-shoot and I hope the wokeness of the current political atmosphere won't detract from that. Sad situation 'cause the guy was drunk and probably not thinking straight (I know that when I was an alcoholic there were times I was so drunk I probably wouldn't have recognized cops if they rolled up on me...) but what's that that Kiwis say? Play stupid games ...

This time, head for the homes of the politicians instead of drugstores and cell phone kiosks, guys. Nobody gives a shit about stolen smartphones except for people buying them off Craigslist, but when the governor wakes up to a crazed mob of dindus smashing down his front door...

Maybe just don't sleep in drive-thru? But then again that wasn't the reason he died. It was because he fought the police and went for their weapons. Yeah that behavior can be reasonable to seen as immediate danger to the officer or others. Doesn't exactly sound like police brutality me but more like play stupid games win stupid prices.

>had fallen asleep in his vehicle, causing other customers to drive around him,
What an obfuscating way to say that he was driving so shitfaced drunk he passed out cold in the drive through line.

Clearly this shows Wendy's is in collusion with our white supremacist police! The CEO even donates money to DRUMPFT! They ain't juss harvesting bruthas fo dey melanin! BACONATORS IS NIGGAS N SHIEEEET

Sleeping in a drive-thru didn't get him killed. According to the article, he was inebriated in a vehicle, resisted arrest, went for an officer's tools and ran off. THAT'S what escalated this whole thing.

What an obfuscating way to say that he was driving so shitfaced drunk he passed out cold in the drive through line.
Now imagine him just driving off piss drunk. He could've endangered MORE lives. Drunk driving is NO JOKE.

Nice try.

At a certain point I'm gonna think the ultimate goal is to be able to pull up a record of 'reprehensible behavior' at any time, for anyone in the U.S., so when we start politically purging enemies of the party and wrongthinkers, or whoever we want dead for our career advancement, they have a turn-key "nah he totally deserved it, look!" dossier to push. Decent people are demonized all the time, and no one is without flaw.

Then I see these, where pretty blatantly, shitheads are given a free pass, and most of those shot by cops absolutely have it coming. It's not like cops think they can just go slaughtering people, that shit has been gone since the 60's more or less. There's so much investigation now, and their job is so tough to do without violence, but they no longer get any credit at all. Like any average folks could do that job while keeping their cool.

1.) Was this person resisting arrest and being violent? Yes.
Get violent with a cop, see what happens.
2.) Was he grabbing for a taser? Yes.
3.) Was he unarmed? Yes.

It looks like he grabbed the taser, so technically, no.
4.) Did he need to be shot 3 times in the back while running away? No.
See point #1.

Okay, he DID grab the taser. So he WASN'T unarmed at that time.

Literally a "didnu nuttin" line right there. He was drunk, passed out in his car. What would've happened if he just drove off? Put MORE lives in danger.

You don't fight with cops. You invite them to fight back, or worse, use lethal force.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Please, don't let Atlanta go up in flames.

There’s probably a sizable subset of Americans who absolutely think you deserve to be shot for blocking them from the drive-through, many of which who would pull the trigger themselves.

You don't fight with cops. You invite them to fight back, or worse, use lethal force.

It is important to separate the two distinct actions from this man:

1. Fighting with police
2. Stealing a police officer's weapon

The drunk(or whatever he was on) idiot fought with two police officers with them doing nothing more than try to subdue him for arrest.

It wasn't until he took an officers weapon that he was shot.

I don't think anyone is going to be surprised to see bodycam or more footage where he turns to point the taser at one of the cops before being shot.

To be honest I don't think it matters to the woke crowd whether or not a shooting is "justified" or that the cops had increasingly limited options. It doesn't matter how much the black man is waving the gun around, unless he starts shooting they see it as "unjustified'.

I don't think he was deserving of death since he didn't have a lethal weapon, but it very well could have been he was trying to grab a handgun and got a taser instead.

With all the "Fuck the police" being the media's narrative lately people think they can do what ever and police can't do shit.
In my state:
1) Delivery driver was driving on the wrong side of the road and parks on the wrong side, police officer saw this, asked for the guys license 11 times and gets arrested. Witnesses claim it he was arrested for parking on the wrong side of the road only, saying the guy complied, there is video disproving the witnesses.

2) A guy from a moving company parks in a way blocking the road, the customer asks him to move the truck he doesn't, garbage truck driver ask him to move the truck, he doesn't, supervisor from the garbage company comes out and asks him to move it, nope. Finally the police get involve and orders him to move the truck as its parked illegally, blocking the flow of traffic/right of way, etc. He doesn't move. The cops call his boss, who has to come out and move the truck. The police cite him for the traffic violation, failure to obey a lawful order from police, and other related things. He refuses to take the citation. Some how the cops don't arrest him then, but I know there will be a warrent out for him because I know he won't show up to court since he refused the citation.

he didn't have a lethal weapon, but it very well could have been he was trying to grab a handgun and got a taser instead.
The left loves to spit out that Tasers can be lethal so they can't claim that. Yes it can be but either you need to be on a shit load of drugs or have a pre exisiting medical contion from what i recall. I also think he was attempting to reach for the officer's gun.

Does he deserve to die? I would say no, but that is me speaking ideally where everyone answers to for thier actions to the court. Did the officers have much of a choice? No, Dunk idiot is responsible for his own death. As soon as he reached for the officer's belt he signed his own death warrant.

Haven't tried that one. I've been using this because it gives you several different resolutions to pick from.
