I'm still working my way through the six-hour Drex stream from Thursday (and the one from last night is over 5 and a half hours - if Nick doesn't go back to doing solo streams I might never catch up), and they're talking about how in some state(s?) restaurants can be open but not churches.

Surely the solution then is to hold church services in a restaurant, is it not? Rent out a party room or whatever. Especially Protestants seems to be big on the whole "where you gather in my name, I am among you" thing, so there's nothing particularly special about an actual church building to them. And so long as everyone there buys a meal and tips their waitresses, I don't think the restaurant staff would mind.

That's an open invitation for a lawsuit, because there is no specific constitutional right to eat in a restaurant but there certainly is one to practice religion. There is absolutely no justifiable reason to restrict one more severely than the other. It does not pass even rational basis scrutiny, and the standard that actually would be applied is strict scrutiny. To the extent they are ridiculous nonsense like this, these restrictions will be shot down one by one if they are continued.
