It's classic groomer behavior on Dick's part. Ralph didn't just wake up one day wanting to put all his money Lino on the line for a Jewish Mexican with a homewrecking fetish. In the UK there's a famous political gossip/satire magazine called Private Eye that also did some pretty good journalism digging up scandals. I mean the downside is that you never knew if you were reading good journalism digging up a scandal or gossip but both were there.

It's a shadow of its former self now but back in the old days it was great.
