New hot take from the movement of one that owes Chloe her purpose on Earth.

Know you place, POC complaining Chloe can't be Pocahontas.

I love this part:

I think I can faintly hear Rachel Dolezal applauding in the distance.

Intolerant singletons should know their place.

:story: :story: :story: :story: :story: :story:

Holy shit, did they really just tell POC to know their place? That’s some of the most privileged shit I’ve heard thus far in conversations about Chloe’s racism. Some of her fans are so damn wild, but this one especially is a precious little shit nugget.

I like the derogatory tone that singlet and singletons takes with these people. It reminds me so much of when the troons make a stink about cis people.

It just keeps getting more and more idiotic. I would post caps, but I am on mobile at the moment. At least her fans are providing some entertainment while she’s in quarantine.

There are so many amazing moments in there.
I get the other stuff, although I will say that from what I've seen, black people are more thugish and stuff. Although that's also probably just the media, cause I do know a lot of poc and most of them are actually really nice. One of my close friends is a Syrian refugee.

And he's still digging deeper! Incredible... Though, I do regret going to his account and being met with the cock of a bara tiddied shark man. "One of my close friends is a Syrian" reminds me of when Chloe dispelled the notion she might be racist with the fact that she had a half-"carribeany" friend and a half-Japanese friend. And she wanted dark skin growing up. But not too dark. Just a little dark. Like her two POC friends.

People of color: Hey, the fact that Chloe is simply emulating and then discarding the ethnicity of a group who is highly oppressed is really racist. These people can't just change their race to avoid discrimination while Chloe can. It's not okay.

OH MY GOD. I CAN'T

I just created this account to add my two cents to this. I’ve been diagnosed with DID (I have been going to this doctor for a completely different reason, I didn’t even think this disorder would be a possibility for me) and it made me really confused because I’m not like your average DID YouTuber like Chloe. I asked my psychiatrist about it. He said he doesn’t believe in DID the way it’s often presented. He just laughed at these people, saying what you see online most of the time is what he calls “Hollywood DID”, so acting and major exaggeration.

From what I can remember, he said DID is basically when someone is unable to form an identity or has a very weak sense of identity and there are so many different (often contradicting) personality traits that the brain thinks a part of them are foreign, thus not being able to perceive them as something that belongs to it. Dissociation and amnesia come in with a child’s brain not being able to handle continuous traumatic/stressful events, so the conscious kind of just shuts down for a while. Alters often start out as imaginary friends too that later become real to the brain. DID’s not nearly as dramatic as a lot of these people make it out to be, it’s not the brain’s only way of literally not dying from trauma’s impact. He also said that DID in most cases is really covert and it’s barely noticeable.

I’m not here to discredit or invalidate anyone. I don’t know or care if Chloe actually has this disorder or if she’s just making it up (tho if she’s actually making it up then she can go fuck herself). I just wanted to share my psychiatrist’s take on it, make of it as you wish

I don’t want to post multiple times, so I’ll just add this at the end if anyone cares. I don’t think Chloe is a good representative for the community. I think it’s stupid to even have a community to begin with. There isn’t a community for depression or schizophrenia, so why the fuck should DID have one. But yeah, Chloe makes this disorder look fun, like it means having a bunch of friends in your head who always hold your hand and help you, who you can make tik toks, quizzes and fun videos with. It’s really not that and anyone who says they are happy to have this disorder doesn’t actually have it

Wonder how this will turn out, considering some of the extreme fans might take lengths to bring “justice”
Nin, we know you're reading this! It's only a matter of time before your parents are attacked and shown proof that you've lied about them multiple times, even if just vaguely. It's either you come out and openly state that you're a fucking liar, or let the big fucking blow up happen outside of your control. At least with the first option you gain a little bit of respect for coming clean. You'll still be mocked and ridiculed, but you'll have people willing to cut you slack. The second... well... you probably won't get any support or connection with your parents every again.

Even if this is a troll (and tbh, it may very well be), some people WILL take it seriously and there will be consequences. The longer you wait, the more people will be exposed to your lies or be radicalized into potentially doing something that will damage your relationship with your parents. Just come clean. Trust me, it's the best thing you will ever do for yourself. I know I've gone in kinda hard on you, but I'll take... some of it back if you just admit it.

He just laughed at these people, saying what you see online most of the time is what he calls “Hollywood DID”, so acting and major exaggeration.
Leave the psychiatrist perspective in, leave your opinions in, take out the part about having DID. People will have more respect for you if you do.

Not the first time I've heard professionals describing the disorder like this. Even the ones who believe in it say the stuff you see online is false. It's a very distinct kind of identity dissociation. I think a good example of what this kind of dissociation really is can be seen in Marilyn Van Derbur. She was Miss America by day, victim of incest by night. Literally. She called herself the 'day child' that went out and succeeded and the other child that took the abuse the 'night child'. For years she hated the night child and it ended up in her becoming paralyzed and hospitalized for 3 months. Her somatic and psychological symptoms only began to abate once she began receiving therapy for her abuse.

Marilyn doesn't publicly state on her website that she has DID, but you can find a bit about it online. I don't think she wants to be labeled as having the disorder because she doesn't want it to be the sole focus of her work. She also has fully integrated I believe. I think hers is one of the few public expressions of dissociation and true identity disturbance. Probably the best one for explaining the phenomenon. She's a real fascinating lady if you want to look into her.

While this is very PL and a good majority of us are skeptical of DID or just flat out deny it, it’s interesting to see the kind of negative impact she and the other DID yters have on the mental health community as a whole. Aside from people pretending they have DID because Chloe and the others make it look appealing and fun, I mean. Who knows how many of her fans have different undiagnosed disorders or illnesses and think that they have DID because it is so loosely defined and easy to find common symptoms with other disorders.

If you’re telling the truth, your psych’s view on DID is actually fairly interesting as well...

Guys, it's happened. Someone wrote an essay based on DissociaDIDs videos.

Slight PL? In an autism/ASD-group I'm in, someone shared an essay about DID. The whole thing was basically Chloés videos (yup, she cited them as sources) in text form. Largest cringe ever for sure.

UH. POST IT?!

ETA:
Just blur or block out the names. You can’t be baiting us like this and not deliver.

ETA2:
If anyone sees this and wonders wtf I’m talking about, a bunch of posts were moved to the plurals thread for being off topics I guess?

Hold on then, ugh. Also, it was an article, not an essay. Whoops.

Thank you! Your dedication is appreciated. :heart-full: :heart-full: :heart-full: :heart-full:

That‘s literally the card racists use when accused of racism. It’s always, “I have a friend/partner/cousin/whatever who is (insert race here), so I can’t be racist!” Good try, but no. Also, POC aren’t here to educate you on racism, that’s not their responsibility, it’s yours. Google isn’t hard to use, Chloe and racist stans.

This is literally just rewriting some of Chloe's videos. Those examples of the states of personality being 'I need food, I need the toilet' etc is exactly what Chloe said; same with 'No trigger is shameful or wrong', I think that's an exact Chloe quote too.

dissocadid.png

She uses the I need food, I need the toilet... line frequently, in videos and out. I think she's really proud of it. Fingers crossed for The Return of Nan: The Golden Shower

Also, make sure to use the smaller images and not the full size ones (you get the option to resize when you upload), it saves Twinkie from having to janny.

In a kinder world...

Im getting heated reading through there. You can't change your race because "you were born in the wrong body". If Chloe is claiming that her alters are different races then they should also take up the baggage that comes with being a POC. Chloe, if you want to have a POC alter then deal with the racism that comes with it. Let's tell her Amira is a terrorist because Indian people are racially profiled everyday. Lets tell her the Asian man alter is the cause of the pandemic because Asian people are being blamed and assaulted for the virus. Like she can't just say you are a race and then not understand all of the shit a POC has to deal with.

But oh wait, Chloe is white, so she will never get racists remarks thrown at her for her fake POC alters.

You know you've been involved for too long when you have nightmares about bald Nan

I'll only think she's valid when she blacks up from head to toe. Commit to the role, Chloe. Become the raghead you were always destined to be.
Can't wait for Chloe to commit blackface when she makes a new African American alter after the "trauma"

Noice, Chloe's Senpai is throwing her under the bus to gatekeep the precious DID streaming and diagnosis.

I quite like Jess' take on this. From what she says it seems like Chloe does meet a number of flags for fictitious DID

https://youtube.com/watch?v=wZrsLUa88Cs

I don't mind Jess tbh as in my opinion she isn't doing much damage as Chloe is. Also, unlike chloe is actually trying to pursue a life and a job outisde of Youtube. I respect her for doing a doctorate degree despite the alleged DID

Watching at x2 speed because the self righteous shit is hard to sit through but I found number 10 quite interesting - the involvement in community and self help groups. We already know Chloe was hanging around asking questions in DID groups prior to seeking a diagnosis. A lot of the points on the checklist could apply to Chloe but that one in particular made me laugh.

To summarise for those who can't be bothered to sit through the video, this is the checklist to identify malingerers with 'DID' taken from this paper with paraphrased descriptions provided by Jess.

1. Differences in DES scores (scores over 60 are less likely to be genuine)
2. Reporting on Dissociative Symptoms (differences between the recall and description of those with 'true' amnesia and the pseudo group)
3. Time Conceptualisation
4. Personal Self Reference & Expression of Affect
(a lack of consistency)
5. Expression of Very Strong Negative Affect (people with pseudo DID were able to strongly convey emotions)
6. Items Brought to The Consultation (bringing diagnostic papers, art, etc.)
7. Over-Disclosure
8. Over-Sharing
(Jess states that 7 and 8 overlap - essentially providing graphic descriptions of abuse outside of 'I was physically/sexually/psychologically abused' is a sign of pseudo DID. 'Genuine' patients weren't willing to disclose details. Inconsistent medical history was also noted here by Jess.)
9. Presences of Guilt, Shame, and Suffering (the pseudo group didn't present feelings of guilt/shame appropriately.)
10. Involvement in Community & Self-Help Groups (Jess was shocked by this probably because she helped to launch this bullshit community.)
11. Presence of Post Traumatic Symptoms (lack of consistency with descriptions of traumatic symptoms)
12. Motivation for Consultation (in this particular study, 3 participants used fake DID to avoid responsibility, 2 participants had tied their identity to DID or trauma survivor groups, another developed symptoms after being in close proximity with someone else with DID, and others wanted to maintain long term disability benefits.)

ETA - She went on to state that eight points or more point to malingering. To be entirely fair, I respect Jess a little more for also stating that she believes some people are 'role playing' but she won't call anyone out because she can't say without knowing them. Don't worry Jess. We'll say it for you.

commit blackface

I'd like to immortalise the phrase 'commit blackface' - perhaps English is failing me but it reads as exquisite liberal satire.

My favorite thing about these sorts of segments whether they be from Chloe, or Jess, is that it helps to outline for their "uwu I have DID totes" crowd a roundabout way to diagnosis shop by either learning from their mistakes if they fail the checklist too hard or fail the checklist not hard enough, creating more illegitimate cases of DID which is in a weird way self serving because the more reported DID is and the more standardized they can make the symptoms that they've created the more they can legitimize the disorder or barring that at least put pressure on the clinical society to push out more research.
