So no rebuttal. Cool beans.
It's probably because there's no point in even offering a rebuttal anyways. If you jumped on that side of the fence you're just going to be mad no matter what anyone tells you, so why would someone put in the effort to try and explain it? Trump talks weird and he says things off the cuff that don't always make sense when you interpret it literally. People can only say, "Don't take him literally" so many times, so if you don't get the gist of what he was trying to say, however awkwardly he was trying to say it, well.. Be mad, I guess?

People already dug their trenches years ago, anyways.

So, the president makes a verbal gaffe while discussing virus treatments. Instead of making jokes about a situation that is full of comedy potential, all I'm seeing is pearl-clutching and moralizing.

Remember when comedians stopped being funny in favor of going on long winded rants for the duration of their set about some social issue that will be forgotten with the twenty-four hours news cycle? Thats everyone now.

I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters ... to see what would happen," the president said Friday as he signed another coronavirus relief bill into law, contending he was asking his medical advisers to examine the impact sunlight has on the virus, not disinfectants, after a health official had described a study suggesting ultraviolet rays quickly kill Covid-19 cells. (A transcript of his Thursday press briefing, however, suggests otherwise.)

So now he's doing the "I was only pretending to be exceptional" defense?

E: oh yeah, his 'defense' also means that he actually was implying that people inject it, and not the UV therapy that people were struggling to associate his statement with.

Firstly, you couldn't have possibly found a more biased article. That entire site looks like something from Buzzfeed.

Secondly, where did Trump "admit" that he was actually talking about Clorox, Lysol, or bleach?

Thirdly, if you actually took the time to watch the full press briefing from yesterday before expousing opinions on the rooftops, you'd easily see that Trump had his statements corrected about "injecting light into the body" when the doctor doing the UV light and heat research got back to the podium to answer questions. Trump made a point to ask the doctor about the actual extent of how sunlight and heat work as a disinfectant to the virus, and no, "sunlight injections" isn't part of the full extent. Trump responded with an "OK." Trump oversold the extent of what sunlight and warm weather can do early on in the press briefing, and it was immediately corrected and clarified in the very same press briefing, and Trump himself was the one to make a point to ask the doctor for clarification. Is the press putting any focus on the latter moments of the briefing? Of course they aren't.

Is Trump making excuses for talking about "light injections" being a possibly viable treatent today? Absolutely! Trump is never one to flat-out admit he was wrong, because he's an egoist. Literally nobody is denying the large ego that Trump has.

It's still not evidence that he was talking about chemical disinfectants and drinking fucking bleach, though.

I'd imagine if we were still in the era of the smug funny liberal, the former would be exactly what would happen.

Now we're basically at a point where liberals in general have this weird 80's conservative "no D&D in my household" attitude, constantly moralizing about vacuous shit.

They can't act in a smug counter-cultural way because they now openly control every part of the culture except the Presidency.

That's how blood irradiation therapy works though, you actually inject a low level laser light into a vein. You can't do that with UV blood irradiation therapy though, and instead you have to draw out the blood, irradiate it, and then put it back in.

Yes, it is dumb.

Its always the same thing, isn't it? Obama has "a pen and a phone" and its a play on words; he's not actually going to rule by executive privilege and ignore the rest of the government, etc. etc. but Trump runs two phrases together in a press conference where the meaning is clear from the context and its proof he's an idiot cheeto hitler. You can't have it both ways; either Trump can flub lines or other people have to be infallible too.

Yes, he's a narcissistic New York liberal billionaire who was born into money, has more bankruptcies and scandals than half of fucking Hollywood, and is basically as far as you can get from the average American. But despite all that, I'd rather vote for him than any one of the clown car amount of candidates that the Democrats put on stage during their interminably long debates because of four main reasons:
  1. He actually seems to think America is a decent place
  2. He's ten times funnier than any other politician I've seen in my lifetime
  3. I'll burn in hell before I vote for someone the media tells me to
  4. Not a single argument against him manages to go for more than 2 paragraphs before descending into insults against those who even vaguely support him.
I'd much rather vote for someone else, but so far, I just get called a Nazi for daring to think that Orange Man might not be Bad. Fuck off, thought police.

Well there's your problem.

I usually stick to porn and nerd shit but yeah, I bought that on myself.

We were actually discussing the memes and their quality (or lack thereof) before she came in trying to pull a Wine Mom Facebook style 'ownage.' I even suggested Operation for the UV therapy thing. Like I said earlier, the worst part of the anti-Trump crowd is they're so fucking bitter. Trump may act like a lolcow sometimes, but his opponents are the worst kind of a-loggers 24/7.

Trumps level of gaffes have nothing on the King of Gaffes Dem hopeful Joepedo. His are almost an art form and one of the main reasons I can't wait for the debate between him and Trump. No matter what they do it's going to be an entertaining show.

The worst thing about the t_d thread is they're always so angry. There's no fun and enjoyment of shitposting, just a bunch of angry Karens who are totally not bitter. It's like watching the religious right trying to make comedies in the 2000's.
They're always venting about how people like Tramp and whatever and they don't understand how anyone can like "an idiot" or whatnot. It's less about them ranting about actually "enslaved" people and more about them spouting off the same old talking points that the media spouts at them since there are Kiwis that somehow still completely trust the word of the headlines (I can't even believe it considering how much pages of evidence of media malfeasance that has gone on for the past 4 years and yet these fucks still aren't convinced?).

Like, come on, man. I just wanna laugh at old-ass boomer redditors trying to invade /pol/. That's why the_donald is funny. The_Donald is a fucking subreddit with occasional bouts of autism, subreddit being the keyword here. It's basically a group of Donald Tramp lovers that all congregated and talked about how much they all love him. That's like if a bunch of Obama fans made a subreddit called r/theobama and they talked about how much they fucking loved him (although because of how saintly the media portrayed him, I bet the dicksucking would've been even worse). The autism surrounding that is hilarious not really within the posts themselves, but the people and their plans. It's certainly (I'd say) a LOT more tolerable than r/politics, but come on, these guys fucking invaded 4chan with their Reddit-tier conserva-humor. That's bound to have some comedic genius in there! "Even /pol/tards hate r/the_donald" or something like that. Like seriously, THERE'S SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Mock those guys and stop making posts about how "scared you are" about Tramp or something like that or how people only look at this thread because Tramp is a lolcow.

Fucking Christ...

Ah, my dad is lovely. Funny man.

Career mentions there is a pucture of george bush two knocked iver jenga towers and paper planes at Epstein’s Island, imediately checks and later he’s like it wasn’t a picture it was a painting so it did not actually happen as though painting are never called pictures. You have never hung a picture on the wall. However he then goes on to say Trump told people to on their own inject or drink bleach and then later goes on to say the maleria drug is not showing promise.

I don’t even really want to defend Trump. I just like laughing at all the stupid shit. And yet here I am.

How has he managed to break people’s brains so bad?

That’s what I keep thinking. TES needs to be more imaginative of where they find funny stuff. I’m sure there’s some TikTok cringe they can find. There’s still Trump related YouTube channels they can use too. As you said, 4Chan is probably filled with great things.

They could be laughing at funny stuff on the internet, but instead choose to take themselves too seriously while misunderstanding who they’re dealing with. Quite a few of the posters on the TES thread are convinced that the Religious Right is still relevant, and likewise think many of the pro-Trump people are religious fundamentalists. That’s as crazy as assuming anyone with TDS is a raging SJW (there is some overlap, but it isn’t the main demographic).

He didn't, they were already that broken, he's just putting a spotlight on the shipwreck.

I liked bleach meme... it made Trump even more endearing. Can't we all just have fun making jokes about our great and funny President?

On top of being good at his job and rebuilding America's tattered reputation, he's fucking hilarious. And then he's got all his detractors making the joke even funnier and they don't even realize it.

Half my Facebook feed is between Blacks will die most from COVID-19 and bleach memes.

Who MAKES these things so rapidly?

People with a lot of free time and without jobs.

So no rebuttal. Cool beans.

Simple rebutal, UV light is a type of disinfectant but people associated it with bleach. He has to walk the take back because people like you won't let the bleach thing die. Jesus christ read the last few pages of the TES and TDS thread it's a repetition of He said put bleach in you're lungs us showing that he wasn't and then your type returning to the bleach in you're lung narrative after a few post.

I really wish he didn't walk it back but when the last 24 hours has been, HE SAID PUT BLEACH IN YOUR LUNGS with no sign of it ending you have to walk it back.
