Dr Juniper Simonis. He is the most annoying presence in the twittersphere of ecology. He recently got his very own 'kittie' and hasn't shut up about it since. For example, a questionable piece of research is making the rounds on twitter about a supposed correlation between the density of female students and the density of cats. Joe Simonis
Ms. Dr. Joseph L Simonis (aka “Josie” aka “Juniper”)
ran for a seat on the Portland Public Schools
school board in 2017. Spoiler alert: he lost to an
actual woman.
In his
candidacy letter, Simonis describes himself as a “32-year-old white person of European decent” who is “transgender, queer, and disabled.” Joe claims that if elected he will center the needs of “black (8.7%), native (.6%), disabled (14.9%), and transgender (it’s Portland)” students. As a woke whitey, Simonis should know that “Black” and “Native” are to be capitalized. Points deducted Joe.
On Ballotpedia his profession is listed as “freelance data scientist and instructor.” There is nothing in his background suggesting any experience in elementary or secondary education, nor any charity, volunteer, or nonprofit work with groups focused on children or education.
Why would a single, childless 32 year old man wants to sit on a school board that oversees the education of almost 50,000 kids?

here, and to be fair they aren’t particularly radical though what a candidate says in an interview and what they’d do once elected are two different things. The fact that this guy wanted in on schools rather than something dealing with ecology issues (his actual PhD-included background) or some other civic endeavor raises red flags. Troons infiltrating the school board is just the 2020 funhouse mirror of Ralph Reed evangelicals doing the same thing back in the 90’s.
