Not saying you can't say it's shit, because it does look like shit and like 99% of kid shows will be shit, just saying it's a manchild thing to get mad over it

I don't get adults watching kid shows, it's really exceptional

I saw all this a few years back when everyone and their mother was acting like Teen Titans Go had come into their house and murdered everybody. Many, many manchildren making asses of themselves on the Internet.

Evidently we learned nothing from that embarrassing time. Now people are acting like Thundercats Roar molested them.

Another defense being used is the "it's just for kids" take. Using "it's for kids" is such a lazy argument and implies we should be giving kids shitty entertainment.

I've always hated that excuse, because it basically says "kids nowadays shouldn't get the same stuff that kids all those years ago got" to me. Which is a complete bullshit excuse to why creators should butcher things, that people grew up and loved, down to thin pieces that said people never want nowadays.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Great minds think alike.

I feel like this show will be Cartoon Network's next NuPPG. They'll act like anyone wants it, see the ratings and then put it in a loser time slot to let it "quietly" fade away.

From what I've seen the show is everything I cannot stand about modern animation overall. Not just shows ostensibly for the youths. Just the way the first episode opens is a bad sign, portentous narration about how Thundra is a peaceful and beautiful and harmonious planet and then it explodes in a deadpan, zany way that is TOTES like, ironical and stuff and counts as good writing among the sitcom humor robots that produce this sort of dreck.

Oh the hilarity of introducing the characters, more of that "witty" "deadpan" ironic style. "Panthro, he builds stuff and has nunchucks!" "Snarf, whoever he is." The sense of "humor" varies from forced zaniness to "heh"-style warmed over irony.

Too many animated series these days are written with 'quips' and constant knowing, smarmy genre-savvy winks at the audience and boy did it get tiresome years ago, already.

I blame a lot of that on just the way media in general is made these days- Everything almost always needs to have that tongue-in-cheek feel to it and I blame a lot of it on the MCU's success. And animation, has fallen victim to it the worst, as TCR! proves.

Of course, I'd also say that animation's always had that issue since the 90s, it's just that the modern shows forget that they balanced the ironic with the unironic and the quips with actual funny lines and exchanges.

A huge problem with the animation as well is that it cuts corners 99.9% of the time. Sometimes, shots of the characters are nothing but necks. Shots like this are shown at least four times in the first episode. Just...neck.

Other times, characters don't appear to have consistent sizes. It's like the frequent character design changes of Steven Universe, but it's in the same episode instead of changing every other episode depending on the animator.

Even though this is a bouncy calarts cartoon, you can see the laziness everywhere. If I was a kid, I'd be really put off by just how cheap and inconsistent the visuals are.

If this show dropped when I was a kid (late 80s/early 90s) and watched this, I would have been perplexed and ultimately bored by it.

It isn't as cool as the action/adventure shows I watched back then, and it isn't as wild and chaotic as something like Ren and Stimpy which went all the way to the way to the extreme with its insanity.

This is a show that is trying to offer action/adventure and loony anarchy and does neither one really well at all.

God Mum-ra Looks like Ass...how can you remotely have an action show with a badguy that looks so pathetic, say what you want about Steven Universe's characters Yellow and White Diamond looked imposing enough to be threatening.

PS : Cheetara looks like a Troon in half of the screen caps I have seen.

I dare say you just may have joined the wrong forum...

Also, why even bother making this show "Thundercats" if you're going to so thoroughly and utterly shit on the original? Kids today don't give a shit about Thundercats. Before this, most of them didn't even know what a 'Thundercat' was. Clearly it was to play on nostalgia of adults today who saw the original when they were kids, only they did a pretty shit job of it.

Did Mr. Mannbun say that his brothers enjoyed Thundercats, but he wasn't really into it? That might explain the contempt he has for the franchise.

Does anyone remember the 2011 series? Sadly I didn't watch it but I remember it looking far better than this.

I miss the early 2010s, I just didn't appreciate it enough at the time, I remember thinking at the time in 2011 that things sucked, but I hadn't seen nothing yet.

You do know that's not actually a storyboard?

What he's doing is making a general sketch of what the storyboard will look like. That's why he's doing it on a whiteboard. The actual board will be on storyboard paper, and will probably look more fleshed out than this.

I saw this shit go on elsewhere, and it goes without saying that the only people who are appalled by this don't actually know how animation works.
