I'm nothing short of stunned to hear Lily Elbe lasted three whole months in an age where antibiotics weren't yet in common use. He was a strong son of a bitch, no doubt about it. His death must have been excruciating, though.

naughty Wikipedia. There is zero chance it could have. Our bodies are not plug and play things and wombs aren’t something you just grab from a loot box and install. They are whole systems. A pregnancy requires the whole system to support it. During pregnancy your blood volume increases massively. Your ribs move up and out, your ligaments loosen, your heart and lung function adjusts, your endocrine system changes output to sustain the pregnancy. the womb pushes organs out of the way as it grows. It’s a whole body effort.
I’ve noticed this weird view of biology among troons. But it doesn’t work like that. The womb is one part of a larger system.
Also to mention the ethics of experimenting on babies, but since no one seems to give A flying fuck about medical ethics these days I will just state that biology will be having none of it

The source cited for that piece of science fiction is something call Trans Media Watch (TMW), a troon charity/propaganda group. The wiki article on TMW has been cited for deletion multiple times because it’s a bunch of self-promoting bullshit, but it’s wiki and troons so of course it stays.

The TMW resource linked in the uterine transplant wiki article excerpt @Pope Fucker posted doesn’t even mention Elbe getting the transplant, much less whether it could lead to a successful pregnancy. So someone went out of their way to add that bit in.

Realistically they'd be coming from dead bodies like almost every other donor organ, but I've never heard that come up in these discussions.

Womb transplants have been done with some success First U.S. Baby Born After a Uterus Transplant. However, it should be noted that even Dr's and Surgeons do not suggest women take the risk, due to many physical life threatening risks such as, phnumonia onset due to Immunosuppressants which slow the immune system down to prevent rejection of the organ and the obvious, death. Uterine transplants are not long term, as soon as the pregnancy is over it is usually removed.

Men getting a uterine transplant couldn't happen for multitude one reasons being DNA itself. Having a Y Allosome rather than an X would make it impossible the genes within contain genetic coding in how the uterus should work, how the fetus would get nutrients, how much hormones should be produced hGC, Progesterone, Estrogen all culminating in DNA construction Molecular Visualizations of DNA this is not some simple thing it's highly regulated by the body.

Finally rhe uterus is a sex based organ, it's not like the Liver, Kidneys, Lungs, and Heart which can be transplanted from one sex to the other, this is sex specific. An analogy would be taking modern pc hardware to a Windows 95 pc and expecting it to work, some generic things will keyboard/mouse because they use a common standard if plugged into a ps/2 (Liver, Kidneys, Lungs, and Heart) port but something more complicated like a (Uterus) camera would be WTF is this?! and ignore it without the required drivers aka the X Allosome.

all sources on lili elbe conveniently ignore where the organ actually came from.
my best guess is this: 1931 (when they did the operation) was when weimar germany was in absolute shambles, the economic crisis was at (or near) its peak in that year, poverty and misery were at an all time high. with this in mind, i imagine these good doctors convinced some destitute homeless girl or prostitute to take part in their little operation in exchange for some food and shelter (probably without much of an explanation about what was going to happen and what it actually meant for her) and i wouldn't be surprised if she ended up dead soon after the procedure too.
this is pure speculation on my part of course, but i don't see how else they could have gotten their hands on an intact and alive womb.

Jokes aside, they're going to harvest them in third world countries. If women really wanted to rid of their uteruses, they would've long protested for it, but they haven't so it's all performative bs. Only the poorest and less educated ones will agree to this because after damaging their wombs being surrogates, all they can do is sell them off.

Though isn't there one (British?) surgeon who likes to claim that womb transplants are totally gonna work/will come soon? I vaguely remember some article being reposted by the usual circles.

It barely works in real women. The wikipedia page for it certainly doesn't paint a pretty picture and finishes off that at maximum two pregnancies before it's removed from an actual woman, it is not a long term thing. That also says nothing about the risks or long term effects of a mother using anti-rejection drugs, that's not something you can easily tell nor is this common enough to have an in-depth study.

This isn't a organ you 'need' even in actual women it's put in for a purpose, not so you can repeatedly slap your numb flush tunnel pretending to orgasm and crying about how you're a real woman because you transplanted a womb.

Even if they managed to transplant a uterus there's no way for them to actually carry a pregnancy to term. That's not even taking into account that you need a proper functional system- uterus, vagina, cervix, for a pregnancy to be carried. Sure it could exist in their body but properly functioning? nah. Pregnancy is not just womb, sperm, egg, it's a full body- ongoing process and it can go catastrophically wrong in a body that is meant to carry one. Pregnancy is driven by hormones, hormones that are making minute changes at every second of the day for the entire pregnancy term to assist in the growth of the child. A woman's body literally rearranges itself internally during pregnancy. You can't just stick a needle in your ass with excess estrogen and think that'll work, not to mention the anti-rejection drugs and the weakened immune systems that comes standard with organ transplant. You'd have to snip out that prostate asap otherwise it'd be competing hormones.

A male body is not made for it and never will be and in the same country that still has anti-abortion debates- this is a literal think of the fuckin' children because they do not deserve to be science experiments and have no power to consent to the unknown future consequences if such an actual miracle occurred.

They're welcome to try though and then nature can give them a final slap in the face as that womb they wanted so desperately kills them.

Gender dysphoria is very common among normal teenagers because puberty is scary as shit. Your body's changing dramatically, really quickly. And it's almost exactly as common that the dysphoria goes away because learning to accept your body is just a part of growing up, like losing baby teeth.
