She was complaining about money a couple of weeks ago. She didn't have enough to get the food she wanted for the air fryer.

Now how much you wanna bet Jerry started getting real lovely dovey when he found out about that sweet TLC money?

This is all perfect because he doesn't have to face Tammy in person and when he is through he can just block her and forget she exists.

It really is best to let cows graze in peace and admire the show from afar. Tammy needs to learn this lesson herself anyway. She is like a young teen in love with a delinquent. Because her mental age is stuck at 14.

She might see Jerry being taken as cool and exciting. She might see herself as better than the wife because Jerry-senpai noticed her, tells her she's pretty and sends her trinkets. And now she can show up her younger, thinner sister by having a man too.

I love how many people are suddenly just getting fed up with Tubby Tammy's bullshit. Apparently, every comment Tammy makes looks like it was done by the text to speech since typing is probably too much of a huge exercise for her morbidly obese fingers.

Honestly. People screeching about Tammys tard bucks always makes me roll my eyes. At the most, she's getting a little under $800 a month, plus maybe like $150 in food stamps. Even in Kentucky, that really isn't enough to live on. Who honestly cares if she gets a few hundred extra a month from YouTube that she doesn't report? She puts out videos and content, she gets hits. She's earned that money. Does she probably deserve it? Not really. But people are watching her and making it worth her time to do this shit. According to Social Blade, which always leans high... at the most, she's making $2.9k a year off YouTube. So even if she did report it? She would be saving the state of Kentucky not even three grand a year. Wow. And do these people actually think the government cares that companies are sending Tammy shit to review? If she called the social security office and told them she'd been sent a knock off Roomba, they'd ask why the hell she was bugging them.

I'm probably Mad on the Internet, but honestly, what kind of job is Tammy going to do? People love to reeee about mah tax dollars, but it isn't like Tammy is an able bodied Nobel Laureate who is just lazy and wants to live below the poverty line on a government income for some reason. She's over 600 pounds. She's actually re.tarded. She can't physically or mentally perform well enough to earn a living.

I think Tammy is less able to hold a job than even Chris Chan. And it seems like she never cares to ever lose weight.
 
Tammy isn't just fat. She has mental deficiencies on top of that. The mental retardation probably is a cause for the fat. On top of that, she has a family that enables every problem she has and a sister that encourages her to put them on display on youtube. If there is a definition of "no hope", it's her.
 
Hey, she could always park her big ass at Walmart & be a greeter! Then again, it probably wouldnt last too long as I could see the lines being blurred between it & YT by her being used to saying "Hi, fam! How y'all doing? My name's Tammy & welcome back to my cha... oh." Ah, what am I saying, she'd never stop herself & realize what she was saying, even if many pointed it out to her. The final straw would be the second she's annoyed over something & someone just says hi/bye & she gives a classic Tammy "Shut up!" in response. Plus, she'd always be trying to snack on the food up front.

Tammy isn't isn't able to get a job because she's stupid. There are people who are literally moderately retarded who can do very simple part-time work. Tammy's dumb, but she's not that dumb. She's just incredibly lazy, like Amy, because their Maw taught them that living off of "free" government money and doing nothing all day is much better than getting up and actually working to live.

The truth is she’s just too fat to work, not stupid.

Seventy years ago Tammy would have been a domestic (paid to do some house work) or worked at a laundry or farm. The activity would have kept her in physically decent shape and her income and types of food available wouldn’t have allowed her to go above 225 lbs.

Maybe it’s because of my weird interest with old newspaper archives and small town history but there was always roles for retarded or stupid people to play in their communities.

The intentions behind the SSI programs were good, but the govt paying people to sit home, socially isolated, eating in front of a TV has created a lot of misery. Entire depressed areas are filled with the people like the Slatons. I’m not saying poverty and hard work are a walk at the beach, but it kept the body healthy and the mind engaged in the community.

Now they can burrow back in a dirty trailer, collect their check, and grow to the size of a VW by the soft glow of the TV/internet.

I really don’t care about $800 a month and food stamps being spent on Tammy. I just think it’s sad and ironic that the “aide” given to Tammy is killing her and making her a miserable freak. It’s just doubly ironic that the foodstamp and govt check at Wal-Mart and McDonalds gets her to 600lb, medicaid saves her from dying and gets fifty pounds off her, then releases her to start the cycle anew.

Going into town to do a menial job would have taught her basic social interaction and given her people outside her terrifying family to interact with. The physical work would have been good for her mind and body. She might have even found another durpy redneck guy to be sweet on. Instead she will eat herself to death and 98% of her sad social interaction comes from trolls and weirdos online.

It contributes, but I think the laziness factor is the biggest one, which also ties into how massive Amy and Tammy are. Pretty much all the men they know work, but probably with the old-fashioned thinking that men work and women stay home. Which they eagerly do because Maw taught them how to get paid to do nothing. Maw encouraged them to do nothing their whole lives likely because the same happened with her and it's literally all she knows, besides screeching for food and whatever else. So now it's literally all Amy and Tammy know too. Their ballooning to well over 400 pounds was just a side effect.

I know a lot of people here feel that Amy had a choice while Tammy didn't, but the sad fact is neither one of them had a chance. That would've required being born into an entirely different family, one that'd encourage them to do things, and not just go watch TV in a different room and leave Maw alone. Or literally lock them out from dawn to dusk. They might still be dumb and fat, but they'd be dumb in a call center and a run-of-the-mill 200 pound fatty instead of hogs.

Historically the women of Appalachia might have been poor, but they weren’t lazy and weren’t economically able to be housewives. (Much like black and immigrant women in the cities. The stay at home housewife is truly a middle class phenomena.)

Old Appalachian women were some of the few who did work during decades when many American women stayed home. The general grinding poverty and/or their husbands being injured/killed in the mines or farms forced them into the workforce or into various ways to earn money.

Regional history shows women worked plenty - they kept stores, taught, did extra laundry at home, sold food from their farms, baked bread and pies to sell, let rooms, etc... They might not have earned as much as their husbands but the income they did earn was vital to their households. Their marriages were true economic partnerships far more than women of middle class America that lived far more divided home/work lives with their husbands. Country women probably thought suburban women spoiled princesses having to “only” worry about cooking, cleaning and child rearing while having modern conveniences. That way of life was for “rich” women, not rural or country women.

Mom Slaton raised her daughters to collect a govt check. Nothing old fashion about it, totally a phenomenon of the last forty or so years. (The first real long term welfare benefits began in the late 1960’s, but the generational reliance came into being by the late 1980’s.)

I don’t have rose colored glasses about how difficult life would have been for women of rural Kentucky sixty years ago and more. But I met enough still fit, sharp and spry old hillbilly women in their late 80’s to know the life they lived was far better for them than what their great and great great grand children are living now. These old women were healthier and more active at 80 than Tammy is at 21.

I find it absolutely sad that I do not really see Tammy is ever going to change. Everything she sees that she does not like are haters and trolls to her and it also seems she is actually getting fatter.

Oh, definitely, she’s totally fucked and is going to eat herself into a miserable early grave.

Even if 300 lbs magically disappeared tomorrow, she’s still so fucked in the head the only difference would be she could probably find some local piece of shit dude to fuck her and beat her up regularly...and would live longer. The layers of blubber are just a physical manifestation of deep psychological problems and emotional immaturity courtesy of shitty parents, horrible environment, isolation and terrible genetics.
 
I wonder if that documentary is ever going to come out. I can't imagine how dispiriting a "day in the life" of the Slatons would be. Perhaps if it was directed by Werner Herzog, but these oafs aren't together enough to look anything but pathetic. I'm picturing scenes like Tammy on her potty chair banging on the wall with her wiping stick to get Amy's beau to come over to lift her up to use her walker. That doesn't come close to rising to Honey Boo Boo levels of lowbrow humor.
