I don't like the new pokemon, they look... odd. tolerable but I'd never do anything but put them in the living dex... shit I mean I'd probably just throw them randomly in the pc because I can't do a living dex anymore.

I'm itching for the starters 2nd evolutions, I want to know which one will have that dreaded fighting type. Someone has a fetish for fighting type I swear.
They have a lot of fighting type starters for various reasons. For one, the first gym is always rock and fighting is super effective against it. In addition, kids playing the game think that fighting types are ultra cool and want a starter that is, well, ULTRA COOL. Also I'm pretty sure most pokemon developers think fighting is extremely viable in a battle, but I can't say for sure.

Sorry for sperging out.

Also is Curry a big dish over in England or something? It feels kinda odd that they would choose that as the custom dish when their when plenty of other obvious choices they could have gone with (Mostly Tea).
Kind of. At least from a Japanese perspective. If I had to guess, the conception mainly comes from when England colonized India, and brought back Indian curry with them, and since the Japanese and UK love curry, a lot of anime treats it as a British staple, with the biggest example I can think being Black Butler.

From what I can tell, curry is very popular in the UK, but in the same way pizza is very popular in the US. Popular, but you wouldn't consider it a national dish.

All pokemon fight. I mean sure it's useful but at this point it's overdone for a starter. I don't care for fighting type just like I don't care for rock type- Rockruff and Lycanroc being the only acception. I want to see types that haven't been used, especially for a starter. Honestly, I'd like to break away from grass, fire, water, even if i know that'll never happen.

I mean, just because Scorbunny has Double Kick, that doesn't mean it's evolution will be a fighting type. The Litten Line got the same move, and that ended up being Fire Dark.

And actually, I agree that they should break away from the traditional fire, water, grass starters.

One sec, I got some fan art that might actually be fun to play with:

Honestly, it'd really add a lot more diversity to the meta as well as make the starters a lot more interesting to use if they weren't all the same basic type.

Not to mention, the types would be awesome - I'd love to use a Fighting-Type Totodile line, or an Ice Type Snivy line.

Edit: Also, the Fairy Type Fennekin?

I REALLY wish they would've evolved Fennekin into a Fairy type, it would've been perfect as a means of introducing the new type back then.

There is the history of Korma curry, a sauce that more or less simplified what Indian curries were prior to it migrating to the UK. Probably what's being referenced, especially since its much more of a stock base compared to more flavourable sauces.

I mean, we were given hints about there being cooking in PKM, I dunno about you, but what tea uses potatoes in it?

... I stand corrected, there is a potato tea.

And actually, fun fact, there's actually a Curry Week in England, happens every October.

It beginner/kid friendly so I doubt it'll happen ever. Newcomers won't know that psychic is weak against dark but unless they're a complete idiot, they must know a pile of fire beat a pile of leaf in a fight.

the ui looks like crap
After playing the series on the DS for several years, it's kind of awkward going back to a single screen.

Exactly why are you evolving your starter before the first gym?

There's shit like strategy guides and Bulbapedia if you're hung up on typ matchups. Plus, Sun & Moon kept track of how good your moves would be after you'd already killed a critter.

As someone who was terrible at the games as a kid you can beat literally everything if you over level, save right before the fight, and have heal items.
-sincerely someone who only used blaziken my second playthrough and brute strengthed Winona.

Just so we're clear Alcremie get's a shit ton of variants

I like them and the diversity for a single pokemon species is nice but given how they were whining over having over 1000 pokemon forms including gender differences and have to literally take some pokemon out because there's too many, I feel this is much too excessive. I hope it uses as little data as possible but the multiple Lillies does not give me much hope.

I doubt it uses up too much dataor braincells, they're pretty much just lazy pallet swaps.
The name "Alcremie" sounds like something that little kids shouldn't be saying
I'll cream ye?

I'm in the minority but I'm not terribly broken up about no National Dex. Makes it a little more challenging in my view and my favorite Pokemon is in every game anyway.

26 weird fucked up slime children is excessive though. Like maybe 5 which each flavor being catchable in a different area of the region would be okay but why 26 of these things?

I need to figure out whose bright idea it was to have over 100 (at first I thought it was over 400, but it turns I was remembering it wrong) different varieties of curry into this game. That's ridiculous, as is the excessive number Alcremie palette swaps.

And is it just me, or do the cooking mechanics, and general layout of the camp seem suspiciously similar to BotW's?

Ok so in addition to the 26 fucking alcremie wtf are they going to do with the shiny? Imo the toppings (strawberry, clover sprinkle, blueberry, etc...) will be different in that there's probably about 5-ish models with various different color palettes. Its do-able but with so many color variations would they even bother? Would there be a special topping or would all the toppings get a special shiny color?

Idk man.

It doesn't hold a candle to the literal 4.2 million Spinda variants, and honestly this reveal really rubs me the wrong way in light of their reasons for why they're not doing the National Dex for this game.
