So, here's something interesting-ish.

Gothamist used to go hard on Trump and politics in general(which is what put it out of business the first time) but for a little while there has been virtually zero mention of Trump.

Might be mundane really but I find it very interesting.

I think smaller sites might be starting to realize alienating half their potential audience is a bad idea.

The only legitimate similarities he presented is that Hitler and Trump both took office and Trump has served two years in office so far. Everything else is so horrendously strained that it's hanging on by its fingernails or it's making psychotic assumptions about the future that extend beyond Trump's second term. It's completely possible to serve a lifetime "Presidency" in Germany because Germany has no term limits for that office, hence why it feels like Merkel has been in office for ages. America doesn't have that problem and it's ridiculous to assume that someone in America could just permanently adopt the position for a lifetime appointment.

The only person who ever broke the "unwritten rule" for two-term Presidencies was a Democrat, and the Twenty-Second Amendment was ratified very shortly thereafter.
 
Listening to her talk about it, I'm further convinced that this is a fantasy or dream she had repeatedly over the years and her dementia has made her forget it didn't actually happen.

Some comments:
  • Hitler was elected as a Chancellor, who due to the powerbrokers in the shithole that Weimar Germany was was allowed into the office into the first place as a sort of puppet/placeholder. He had less powers than the German President, who was Paul von Hindenburg again. Ironically, Hillary fits the mold and set up a bit more than Trump does given that none of the people that were in the GOP wanted him really while she managed to bribe/threaten to "suicide" people into letting her win.
  • The actual president, Hindenburg, died like a year later and then allowed Hitler to take up his pretty expansive powers due to said powerbrokers fucking up and not realizing that while crazy, Hitler was not as stupid or as pliable as they thought, nor that Hindenburg was that close to death. Trump is the big man, and the comparison would be more apt if this was on Pence.
  • Hitler took advantage of how the Weimar Constitution was unpopular and only recently enstated and reworked it so he would be a dictator, flirting with the Junkers and businessmen after pivoting from an economically left point of view. Germany, while having a history of democracy and political experiments, did not have a strong legacy for a complete democracy at the time. The US constitution and government structure is rock hard and this type of set up is very difficult due to our very long legacy of Republic.
  • Trump is one of the most opposed Presidents in history, and cannot rely on having control over the other two heads of Federal Government. Our separation of powers is working and prevents a strong man from taking full control. Ironically, Obama was closer to doing this since he tried stacking the court with weirdos, but pissed away his Legislative control out of Narcissism.
  • It's amusing that these shitstains are trying to project their death cult onto Donald Trump, given that it's the whackadoo left that are trying to count murdering newborns as abortions and are advocating black genocide via Planned Parenthood. Doubly so since they are also pushing to a degree troon enforced sterilization just because Sammie prefers pants over skirts or Gerald cries a lot. Their current actions are much closer to Aktion T4 than anything our President's done.
  • The fucking Holocaust was Plan B. Plan A was to move them to Madagascar and keep them the fuck away from Europe.

This is the dumbest shit.

With regards to the Nazis it was what one might consider a "peacetime holocaust" where all jews existing in european nations annexed/influenced by Germany would be sent to mostly starve and die of disease, and there was explicitly a plan to have them kept as a third world shithole held hostage to stop America from taking any economic action against the Nazis.

However it required the UK out the war since they were blockading germany, and thus once it became apparent that the UK was staying in the war and keeping the sea lanes closed and the deadline for war with the USSR was fast approaching in mid 1941, Hitler and co's mindset turned first to the "ok wipe out all jewish leadership and as many jews we can afford to kill immediately and then probably starve the rest to death once we have won" einsatzgrupen plan, and once the inner circle realised all hope was lost for any real chance of victory come 1942ish the whole "fuck it, if we are going to lose we are taking all the jews we can with us scorched earth style" mindset took over, thus leading to the dedicated death camps starting to spring up.

The truth is the Nazi state tried several different solutions to the hostile Jewish population, including expatriation to the US and other countries, these solutions were institutionally rejected but its true that many Jews left Germany. When the war started however the German government didn't have the inclination or resources to worry about resettlement and decided to treat Jews as partisans.
